How to Best Promote An Online Life Coaching Company?

Hello all you fine Stackers,

My brother and sister-in-law are starting an online self-help/coaching/counseling type company (he's a clinical therapist). The company revolves around generating leads and driving them to purchase live video chat(or phone) coaching session packages with one of their team of life coaches. I encouraged them to develop an e-course to also let affiliates promote to generate passive income (perhaps through registering it through ClickBank?). Could live coaching session packages also be registered with an affiliate network like ClickBank? I am very new to AM and setting up my own campaigns, following the Mobile Cookbook and whatnot. But they are even more clueless about online marketing than I am so turned to me for help. So in turn I seek your advice STM! What would be the best avenues for promoting an online company like this be? And how could I position myself in a way that I make money too?

Thanks!

Before they start trying to leverage affiliates off the bat, I would highly recommend they prove they can make things work profitably themselves. Affiliates should be used to scale, not to prove a concept.

I would look for competitors and see how they have built their funnels. Then I would launch a campaign through Facebook or Adwords and optimize the funnel based on the data you get. Create a follow along campaign on STM, so we can help give feedback on your funnel as well as your ad campaign. If it shows promise, affiliates will follow .

EXACTLY what MrGreen says. Focus on building a profitable funnel first before you consider affiliate offers.

Given the nature of the business, I'd look at long-tail Adwords as an initial capture mechanism, along with content marketing. Life coaching and therapy are all about helping people with either diverse problems or difficult questions, which are both a perfect fit for any kind of keyword-focused marketing.

Think about the top 100 or so questions or problems people might be coming to the business with, then either target those with Adwords (and then do the usual Adwords optimisation process of negative keywords, split-testing, etc - see Perry Marshall amongst others) or with content-marketed articles. In the latter case you'll also have to do some marketing of the articles, but if they're well written and genuinely addressing real problems, you can do that by finding forums, Facebook groups, subreddits, etc where people with those problems hang out, and letting them know about the articles.

And as MrGreen says, start a Follow-Along! It'll help a project like this enormously.

They have a lot of work to do because it's a crowded space.

Study DigitalMarketer, Brunson, or Frank Kern.

You need a funnel.

Paid Facebook ads to relevant people-> sign up to automated webinar -> schedule phone call -> close them on the program.

the other way is

Content marketing -> $7 eBook -> Contact to phone call -> close them on the program

Dayum fellas.

Some great advice here. Thank you so much.

I will start a follow along when their company goes live and I have something to work with.

Oops, forgot one other very obvious point.

The Money's In The List.

For a service like this, a mailing list is going to be huge. If it were me launching this service, I'd at the very least split-test all marketing between direct sales and funneling people to a list with frequent updates, and I might well just target everything at getting people on a list.

That's a particularly big deal given that therapy / counselling / life coach services are something that people will move in and out of needing throughout their lives. Get 'em on the list now and that opt-in may well still be paying dividends in 20 years.

1. Find your niche (marriage help for men? For women? Peak performance for execs? For entrepreneurs? Etc). Get highly specific.

2. Test marketing angles, and leadgen to email list building. This is where you test ads and landers and videos and images.

3. Figure out your monetization. Infoprod, physical prod, events, access, etc.

Easy peasy!

I personally do my own infoprod and i use infusionsoft, uspfulfillment, vcita, wistia, wishlist member, zapier, hellosign, and paycertify on my backend.
