Questions for an Adult Pay Per Call campaign n NL?
I'm now using exoclick as my traffic source and the offer I want to sell are minutes on the sex line with Dutch speaking operators. Here people can call in and we get paid.
I want to use cpc for this offer (at 0,05) for testing. I targeted geo for the Netherlands and Dutch as the language. 300x250 banners 17 variations all of them animated.
Is it wise to use cpc for this or should I use other traffic sources/cpm?

Never use the CPC model on exo. You will get clicks from all kinds of poor quality footer placements and from sites nobody wants to buy from
Exo always worked way better for me when using the CPM method. Good quality traffic spots are occupied by guys who know how to make a good banner with good CTR, you can't beat those with the minimum CPC bid.
CPM all the way.

I have to agree with this assessment even if I'm a bit biased

Some clicks aren’t worth as much as others, but you still end up paying the same rate. CPM is easier to optimize.

My experience is, that as long as there are both CPC and CPM models available, CPM always worked better for me. The only time I could make CPC traffic work in adult, was with networks like trafficfactory that doesnt have CPM available at all

Good job man, keep it up

j/k...honestly though, if you have more experience as an affiliate marketer and aren't averse to risk taking because you want better conversions and profit, CPM is the way to go

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I will run it on CPM. I think it will go a lot faster. I'm a bit concerned I'm selling a live phone sex product. Maybe no one is looking for a phone service, or just a few. And then whole budget will be viewed away.

CPM or CPC, the budget will be spent anyways, so the pricing model doesn't really matter. To be honest, I never tried to promote phonesex on paid traffic so no idea if it stands a chance at all.
The thing about CPC model vs CPM on exo is that they don't favor it I think. First of all, when you choose CPC, they have to "sacrifice" some impressions for testing, because they need to see the CTR and calculate the possible income based on that. In case you banners are bad, they just lost some $$$ because they could have sold it on a bigger CPM rate. So they won't give you the best impressions for testing, which will degrade the quality. I don't like CPC at all

One thing worth noting is to make sure you use Smart CPM instead of just CPM. This way you set a max bid, but will actually just end up paying a certain % above the next competitor's bid.

If you dont try - you dont find out. We sell some own dutch traffic to a dutch phone sex company (also IT and CH by the way) and it works for them. Its their own offer but it looks there is a market for it. Try to avoid the 3G traffic, its in NL super expensive because of some crazy Sweepstakes that dominate the market.
Good luck!

Blueflag, how many adult offers does your network have? And for what countries?

I'm sure he will reply eventually, but until then : they cover pretty much any GEO that is monetizable with adult offers, part of the offers is their own, part is the result of dealing with direct advertisers. Pretty much any mobile "smartlink" affiliate network works this way. The difference usually is the amount of their in-house offers and as far as I know, brokerbabe has quite a lot of in-house ones.

my expirience with exo cpc and cpm model:
start with sCPM then when banners stay enough time and gather enough impressions look at banner CPM. You can move sources with very low banner CTR in new whitelisted exoclick campaign. You have to know also that exo algorithm gives higher priority on cpm campaigns that cpc and in cpc campaign you will not receive so much traffic to your banner except it has high banner CTR which will gives to exo more money.

@Matuloo - I would not be able to explain it better :-D THX for helping a brother out. I am currently visting Germany and busy eating fat pork in my hometown.
@Quarternerd - Own offers in our company we have around 200 but not all of them are directly promote able. Adult we prefer for different reasons a rotation with 3. parties - even when your affiliate manager can give you selected offers directly. So Focus is here more on the smartlink. In Mainstream its the other way around. Focus on Direct offer selection and Smartlink from your affiliate manager. Its mostly mobile offers but we build currently more and more reach in Digital offers. We are strong in IT + the DACH market. Mainstream is Glize.com Adult is Brokerbabe.com you can add me on Skype s.muehli for a chat.
Cheers
Stefan
