Facebook Pixel Conversions Not Tracking Properly

Hey STM,

My first time posting here...

I recently switched from "Clicks to Website" to "Website Conversions" using Facebook's NEW Pixel. I am cloaking and running a nutra CPA offer. My question is that the number of conversions seems way off and I can't seem to pinpoint why it is.

I am plugging in the standard base code along with the code for the event Initiate Checkout in the <head></head> tags on my pre-sell. The only "conversion" SHOULD be when they click my tracking link, correct? It should be optimizing for the clicks to the offer, no? Also, I noticed it has a PageView event in the code above the event I added and am curious if that's creating issues.

I am also running a back-button redirect which I was uncertain if that impacts tracking or not. Thanks for your help, let me know if I left out any relevant information.

your pixel code should be on the offer conversion, does your offer accept iframe conversion pixel? if yes, your pixel code should be inside it, with an conversion event from facebook.

Hey williamhrs, thank you for the response. So I would just iframe the conversion pixel with the conversion event code from Facebook, it seems to be looking at the new pixel the event doesn't matter. Do you choose to do this because it a safe alternative for the advertiser rather than having them hard code the pixel on the thank you pages directly? I'm also assuming it'd be a tedious task repeatedly updating the new pixel IDs.

It's just the way it is, it's never going to be 100% accurate. Especially if you cloak.

Thuglife. Having it record several thousand conversions and being within 10 to 15% or the typical bleed/drop-off you get are two very different things. Not looking for perfection here, haha, but also wanted to know why the number of clicks to the landing page and conversion events were about the same number. Thank you though, I'll just use the iframe.

You installed it wrong.

There are two parts to the pixel, the PageView, and the actual conversion event, this can be View Page, Purchase, Add to Cart etc.

The PageView fires everytime and is in the <head> section.

But View Page (action) etc, you only fire this on the actual event you'd like to track.
For LPCTR, you'd fire it onclick, so Javascript is needed.

Or.. you can use GTM.

I recently had the same issue, I guess it will show all conversions which means all "events" even if thats page views on a landing page. What you have to do is make custom columns in your reporting to show just "Purchase" conversions assuming you set the correct trading parameter for "purchase" on the thank you page.

Hey Thuglife,

Im trying to work on an offer where the advertiser owns the LP. Therefore I can not add my FB pixel to the event. I added the FB pixel to my traffic source on my Thrive Tracker. However, the pixel doesn't show any activity, its never been used before on FB so its showing a red triangle where I would choose my conversion pixel because it hasnt been fired because its not on any page. Not sure how to set up the pixel so that it starts working and can be added to my ad?
