Hey folks,
The poor affiliate guy here and today is a special day, today is the day I bring you up to speed on my first Campaign follow along on STM. Let's begin shall we? *cracks knuckles*
So I launched this campaign a few days ago, but figured I'd port all my data and results thus far into STM to get some feedback.
Campaign Launched Jun/4/2016:
Traffic Source: *Pop traffic*
Offer Payout: $3-4
Number Of Landers: 3
My Bid: $24 CPM *yikes*
Traffic Type: RON
IOS: Android and Carrier specific (I'm only targeting one carrier)
Results June 4th:
Conversions: 3
Spend: $17
ROI: -23%
Results June 5th:
Conversions: 5
Spend: $34
ROI: - 38%
Thus far I don't think I have enough Data to do any optimization really. I've blacklisted one placement that has spent over 2x the payout and have two other placements I'm itching to blacklist as well. They haven't quite spent 2x payout but they're damn close! I haven't really gotten that many impressions due to my crazy high CPM cost. Ugggh.
After speaking with a friend he told me I was paying a ridiculously high CPM for RON traffic in this particular GEO and told me to drop my bid a lot lower. Even though the source says I won't receive any traffic my friend told me the source LIES. So i've dropped my CPM down to $8 and will see if I can still get traffic at a much lower bid.
My question to you is... do I kill my 2x payout placements or see how they fair at this much lower CPM? Should I keep the placement I blacklisted where it is or bring it back into the campaign now that my CPM is much lower?
How am I doing so far? Will I find profit? What's the next move?

I look forward to hearing from you guys.
Results June 6th... Pending
Your ROI is extremely good for a that high CPM so this campaign def has promise, I suspect I know which TS it is. It shows a ridiculously high bid for carrier traffic, min bid of $xx no matter what country - it is a bug (if we're talking about the same source)! In that case if you only bid half and get the same EPV you are already profitable
Update: My $8CPM has had 2 extra impressions in the last hour lol. I need more traffic and I need it NOWWWW!
Sooooo, I'm upping my bid to $10CPM. I gotta get ready for my wretched job here shortly (night shift) but I hope to see some more feedback from some of the Master Affiliates on here shortly.
Sidenote: I to pray to the CPA Gods to grant me more traffic and better ROI. I hope to find profit and then tell my boss to F off while I ride off into the Sunset with $20 a day mobile profits
See you soon!
The bids are indeed too high, set it lower and give it time. Sometimes its a good idea to pause the campaign, set a new bid and then restart it 20 minutes later - algos can do all kinds of weird shit.
Higher bids will pretty much always give you more traffic but there are certain borders you don't want to cross... even the best oiled campaign can make only "so much" per click, so don't push it to the sky.
Not sure how much serious you were with that "poor" remark, but in case your budget is limited, I would approach this slowly and not run for the highest bid straight away.
Okay, so I just woke up and logged into
Spend: $5.00
Revenue: $12.25
ROI: 240%
WoooooHooooo! Alright so quick update on the things I did thus far, I tested my bid placements and it looks like the lower bid is paying off. However I need to find the sweet spot because at my current bid i'm nowhere nearing eating up all my daily spend. I'm going to just slowly up the bid and see what happens. But another thing I was thinking of doing was just creating multiple clone campaigns each staggering the bid and going from there. But before I do that I really want to figure out my top lander; what to do, what to do? I do see a lander that is starting to break ahead of the others but not sure if I have enough data just yet. It has more than double the conversions of my other lander and is sitting at 84% statistical significance. I've blacklisted 3 placements that have spent over 2x payout with 0 conversions. I know some people go by number of impressions as opposed to the amount of money spent.... but i'm a newb and don't want to second guess myself by applying new methodology. When in doubt I follow K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupid) I feel this means allows me to make fast acting decisions without second guessing myself.
My question to you is how many conversions would you say I need to choose my winning lander? My top lander has more than double the conversions of the others and has a 84% Statistical significance rating. I'm getting closer to my first big profit day which means I can quit my job and relax in some tropical big booty paradise
. I'm motivated (for the booty) and hungry (for the booty). So please, if you have any insight don't be shy and chime in. I want results so I can get the booty sooner than later and I'm hoping with the right feedback I can scale this to $x,xx days in a matter of a few days or weeks.
Anywho, time to go catch up on some Game Of Thrones now Woooooooop.
Oops
Correction on the ROI, it's: %140
Hold your horses and don't quit your job yet, the booty can, and will wait
)
What exactly is the offer payout? I see $3-$4 mentioned in your first post, that means you had how much, 4 converions? You can't base anything on that just yet. Keep collection data, right now you're getting it for free
I've received a total of 13 CV on three landers in the past 5 days. Two of the landers are showing 3 conversions each while my top lander has 7. I know it's still a bit early on cutting a lander but this top one seems to outperform on a daily basis. What would you say I should do?
Offer payout is $4 and I've spent $110 testing with $52 revenue and I'm sitting at -52% ROI.
3:7 sounds like a done deal, but it only takes 2 random conversions and the situation changes. I would wait some more.
But since its 5 days, you can aswell risk it and keep running just that one, you will see if the decision was the right one pretty fast.
Thanks for that Matuloo,
I decided to run with the lander and created two more campaigns at higher bids at a spend of $25 each, both were on RON traffic. On my original campaign I had to up my bid to $18CPM to see decent traffic and on the other two new campaigns I set up, I upped my bid to $21CPM and $23CPM. All three campaigns were to set to spend $25 each and after letting the campaigns run for a day and a half only the $23CPM campaign was able to spend close to the daily budget of $25 and it spent $19. The other two were both under $10 spend and this is on RON traffic
, in a non English speaking GEO.
I've decided to pause those campaigns and run a whitelist with the traffic source and also moved the campaign over to DNTX. Thus far on DNTX i'm getting +ROI but barely spending. I've spent under $1 to generate $8 Revenue at a $20CPM on Redirect and it's barely pushing past $1 spend in a 8hr period. I'm going to have to up my bid on DNTX to $26CPM and see if I can get better conversions. At this point i'm thinking I might need to run a diff offer. I'm upping my bids by a lot on Propeller and barely even making a dent in my daily budget... I can only conclude that i'm getting starved out by another affiliate in this GEO ... hmmm?
I had it set to 3/24... however I ported it over to DNTX and don't see a frequency option. I did set the daily budget to unlimited so let's see how it goes. I'll you posted brother, thanks
