Landing page with high or low QS?

Hi all,

Been reading around pay per call and I'm seeing some conflicting tips regarding whether a good or bad landing page is needed. I read iamatilla's case study in which he advocates a landing page with low QS whereas others I have read guides that recommend high QS for pay per call campaigns as well so wondering what people's thoughts are on this and how crucial is this?

Thanks,
SP

Do you have a link to where it is used in this context? Generally the higher the QS the better, but iamatilla's may be referring to a special case.

Iamatilla was referring to the QS for WEB traffic. The lower the quality score, the less likely it will get desktop traffic. You would ideally want to target the mobile call extensions rather than desktop, focusing on the click to call. Lander won't matter, because they're going from the search page, to their dialer with the number already pasted. But unfortunately it no longer works

That guide was written before Google rolled out "call only" ads. It's an irrelevant technique now.

Always aim for high quality score landing page - it will only help you. Yes not as much with call only ads (as the page is only used to verify the phonenumber) but still. You never know how google is really using QS to help with position/impressions/share of voice in the bidding war.

Will depend if you are niche focusing or offer focusing.

If you are building out a website for a long term niche then yes Quality score is going to be more important. What is also relevant here is the fact that long after your Ad traffic has finished, your niche website will still remain. So you can actually get "free conversions" as your number will be still on the site and it is getting found by organic traffic.

QS is of course going to be important as it can affect the attention and ~ of placings Google Give your ad. It's relevance to the keyword searched will be one of the factors (but bid's & keyword mostly) that will help prioritize your ad over another's.

Long story short - Yes your QS is important, even for PPCall landers, but it is not the most important focus for the success of any long term PPcall campaign.
