Facebook #-tag (Topic) Interest Targeting

Hey,

Just wanted to see if any of you more prolific social guys out there have noticed any differences in traffic quality/quantity since Facebook introduced the new topic/hash tag interest targeting vs. precise targeting?

I see there is nor particular answer... some perform well, some dont. just have to end up testing everything to see which works better.

I haven't really tested it that way...i just use it to build up the reach....esp on smaller demos...it can work good

It's had a negative impact with me. I've done some tests to see if it really limits itself to what it says it does, and in some cases it's not doing so.

For example, I have a very targeted campaign (population size ~25,000 for my age and sex demo) that I've been running. I used the same copy/images/etc and the #-interest tags, which raised the population considerably of course, but I hoped it wouldn't be to the campaign's detriment.

Alas, one of my employees let me know the other day that it was showing up in the ads on her fb page. She is a woman. I am targeting only men. Her interests have NOTHING to do with the topic that I'm targeting.

So, for now, I'm not using it.
