Back to square one..Get profitable or die trying!

Hey guys,

This is Octavius from Egypt.
This is my first follow along and first thread here after more than 6 months of bing a member of this amazing community.

1st thread after 6 months?! are you an introvert or something? "I can read your mind "
No, I just liked working alone

Then why start this thread?
Because what I've learned about working alone after 2 years is.. IT GETS YOU NOWHERE!
and that's exactly where I am right now.

Background

I've been in AM for about 2 years. Mainly doing list-building and selling solo ads on Udimi.
I wasn't doing a lot, around 2k-4k/month.
I was completely alone. I didn't have any partnerships with anyone, I rarely opened my Skype, I joined many forums but never really participated in any of them.

In December last year I had some health issues and I couldn't work, then some family issues. Long story short, after around 4 months of not contacting my list, they almost forgot me, they're not responding to my emails, and they're even reporting my emails as spam.
And when you have no partners, it's not easy to recover from this, it basically means that I'm back to square one.

Gameplan:

Get profitable with CPA and use the profits to rebuild the list.
And most importantly, to stop working alone and build partnerships.

Budget: $2000

I will post updates about my campaigns starting tomorrow, your feedback and advice are most appreciated

First update:

Campaign 1:

Vertical: Sweeps (Choose one of 2 choices and win $250)
Since the offer had its own questionnaire, I thought I'd direct link. But that didn't work unfortunately.
Traffic source: Adcash - Banner display

Cost: $26.14
Revenue: $0.0
Profit: $-26.14
ROI: -100%

Campaign 2:

Offer rotator
Traffic source: Pops

Cost: $10.08
Revenue: $2.97
Profit: $-7.11
ROI: -70.53%

Steps to take:

1. Stop the sweeps offer since it in got ZERO conversions.
2. Spend more on testing the rotator on different traffic sources.

ROI: -95.15%

Hi Octavius! Thanks for posting your first thread!

I completely understand your preference to work alone. I did that for almost a decade, and even after I joined STM I was a lurker. Then I signed up to the first AMC and it literally changed my life. I formed a mastermind with some of the other students, and then got noticed and promoted to mod status - it all stemmed from the networking that happened while I was taking the course.

I had always been a loner and never paid much attention when I heard people emphasize the importance of networking. But the affiliate marketing game can get really tough at times (as you've experienced), and being able to bounce ideas around with people, or even have someone to vent to or share success with, can do wonders to morale. Not to mention the benefits you can get by sharing information and experience, or even partnering up to work on campaigns and other projects together. It's a true win-win.

Sorry for being long-winded - I really just wanted to say "congratulations on coming out of your shell to connect with us!"

Now - regarding your camps. A couple of comments/suggestions:

-Although rotators may be easy to run (see thread here), it's no longer easy to make money using JUST rotators alone due to the increased competition in recent months. If you really want to go that route, I would suggest testing smaller, newer, less popular traffic sources. Also - I don't know which rotator you're running now, but the best one I know of is Monetizer.co.

-Instead of testing one offer, it would be better to test several at the same time. For example, ask all your AMs for their best iphone 7 offers for US. Many of those offers don't have pre-landers built-in, so do some spying (or use adplexity) to rip different types of landers that you see, and set up a test campaign to test them. Then of course, please post stats here and we'll take a look.

Thanks for starting this follow-along and looking forward to seeing progress!
