Does name on credit card matter?

I'm planning to be using multiple cards for increased credit limits.

However the fb im using technically isn't under my name. I could apply a supp card but it takes time and have some limit issues.

Question is, could I just use a card that has a different name from the account holder? (Won't even type in, but will they even know?)

PS: no blackhat. Have few months of spending history.
PPS: using business manager

Larger businesses commonly do this when advertising on FB. Employee cards with spending caps / marked for advertising etc.

For a little background reading, the AVS system is used for this kind of thing:

Looks like American Express is the only one that checks for a name match.

It can be used a couple of ways by the merchant:

  1. Some fraud detection systems (AVS, third party and/or internal) actually check the name field to see if it matches the cardholders name, or at least hasn't significantly changed since the last time it was used.
  2. It puts the cardholder's name on record, so if the cardholder calls to cancel or dispute a charge, their name is on file even if the name on the account is different.
  3. It helps merchants find accounts that are controlled by the same customer or paid for by the same person.
  4. It also can be used as a possible indicator of what the customer's legal name might be, if the cardholder name is different from the name on the account.

Short answer: no, it doesn't matter

Nope doesn't matter. Only thing that matters is the City, ZIP and IP address that is close by.

We have a solution that the AVS is turned off on the cards. Let me know if you like me to get you a test card to try on FB or other platforms I can introduce you to the guy.
