Twitter to remove 140 character limit (sort of)

As I assume most of you know, Twitter has a 140 character limit per tweet.

While I think this is some of the reasons it bacame so popular, it also poses limitations on its uses.

A couple of days ago, Twitter announced that they will stop counting photos and links as a part of the 140 character limit and the change will go into effect in the next few weeks.

I think this is very good news to the promotion capabilities of the platform. Twitter is still not as popular (for affiliate marketing) as some of the other social platforms but it has its potential and when we will be able to use photos and links without limiting our "tweet", it can help us better promote our campaigns there.

We already see affiliates generating very nice revenue streams with free promotion in Twitter. With some thought and good building of followers, you can get very targeted users for your campaigns, so the new development is very much a welcome news IMO.

What do you guys think?
Any of you already stacking the money using Twitter?

Not sure why they had this limit in the first place, it's about time!

They were considering lifting the limit some time ago, but I guess they realized the limit actually makes them special in a way. Lift the limit and you loose the specific twitter language and as retarded as it looks to me, their huge following seems to like the #### craze. If they loose the limit too much, they will just become another "social" network, I guess they are very well aware of that.

The 140 character limit helped them diffrentiate themselves form Facebook. It made the whole thing seem much more "to the point" IMO.

I think that lifting the limit completely would have been a bad move as it really would become nothing special.

But by excluding the photos and links from the actual character count, they help users to better express themselves and in turn, can help marketers to improve their "promotional tweets".

I think this change will see more marketers try this platform and those who already use it will improve their revenue from it as well.
