Hello fellow STMers,
I am just starting out, and have obtained VPS hosting for my landing pages. I have purchased a domain name for the landers, and another for my business home page. A business homepage is required by banks to open a business account, and for obtaining business credit in the future and so forth.
Should my business homepage site be an addon domain and hosted on the same server, or should I be hosting the business lander on another server? Also I am apprehensive about doing the business lander with WordPress, not wanting to introduce security vulnerabilities on the same server where my landing pages will be running. Any suggestions?
I am thinking of either separate inexpensive WordPress hosting, or perhaps a Concrete5 or PHP-Fusion based theme if going with the same VPS server for hosting my business lander. Is there an easier/simpler/better way to accomplish this?
Thanks so much for any guidance with resolving this rather basic but utterly confusing issue.
I think the general advice you'd get would be to keep business sites on separate servers from all the affiliate stuff.
There are plenty of super cheap VPSs as low as $5/mo if you want to just have a business/showcase homepage which will do the job, why not even just launch another VPS from your same provider/account that you use for AM stuff, it's going to be easier to keep them in check.
Depending on your business homepage's goals, you can always just host some simple HTML/CSS page too if it's meant to be purely informational without the need of frequent updates. Less of a security risk, plus it'll load faster - doesn't have to be some complex WP + premium theme, for example. I personally really like Concrete5 as it's super simple to setup and work with/customise too and it seems their marketplace has grown quite big lately.
www.geekstorage.com is who we use for some of our stuff. they know their stuff
You're certainly overthinking things. Wordpress is very secure - you won't introduce vulnerabilities. One server is fine for your needs. Just addon the domain and get it setup under a new cpanel.
When you need to take your tracking to the next level, just move it to a more advance server and keep this VPS for the business site.
Hi, I'm having the same question as this also, and I'm afraid that I'm still not clear about this
Situation goes like this:
- I have my own business homepage (used to apply for affiliate networks) I created the quick slick business lander by zeno, this business homepage is hosted on amazon s3 cloud

When I am applying for BEYOND HOSTING to host my offer landers, do I need to create a new domain name? Or can I use back my original domain (that's the same url for my business homepage)
If I understand this correctly, you created a business page, put it on a domain and hosted that domain on amazon cloud. Now you want to host your LPs using the same domain, but you want to use beyondhosting. Right?
I'm afraid that you can only point one domain to one host, so it will either be on beyond or on amazon.
As mentioned above already, it's a good idea to keep landing pages and business page on a different domain anyways, so I would suggest that you register a new domain or two and host those on beyondhosting and leave your business page as is.
