Building online assets with white hat marketing?

First of all if this is in the wrong section, please move it. Although this is not related to AM it's the most general section I could find.

Right so I am interested in creating online assets, the first one I have in mind is creating a facebook page/website with daily funny pictures and videos and use Facebook marketing and SEO to make it self-sustained.
What are your views on this, what would the best way be to monetize this website?

And also what are Facebooks views regarding pages and websites like these (funny pictures, videos) , I am sure they would allow creating ads?

You won't be building any online assets using other people's property (videos) without permission these days.

I suggest reading this blog: http://fatstacksblog.com/. Focus on the quality of your content, wathever you decide to make (instagram, content for SEO or content for viral).

As someone with previous experience with facebook pages and friends who still do it I consider fan pages quite volatile assets. Facebook constantly changes their news feed algo and organic reach has taken a lot of hits in the past year(s). So take that into consideration when calculating what a like is worth. If you need a few months to get your money back on a like, that's very risky.

You should aim for getting viral and that's more of an art. For example my friends own multiple pages, post the same content on more pages, promote them in the same way, some go viral some perform worse than non-viral content.

For monetizing you can use the standard arbitrage format (native + adsense). While advertising with Facebook is usually no problem (unless you promote too sexy/provocative/controversial/etc. content), Adsense can be more troubling if you place the banners too close to the next buttons and other nonsense, so make sure you do your research properly.

Is it doable? yes
Can you make a lot of money? yes
Is it worth your time to learn all the tricks? you know better

In the last 6 months I've built a website and a FB page that gets me about 4 million page-views per month and generates $40-50k/month in profit. Scaling is a bitch, but it's great for recurring guaranteed $$$. Another company in my niche started 8 years before me, and is doing well over $30MM/year in revenue, so there's definitely a lot of possibilities out there.

Can you share more about what you do?

So you just push traffic to your site and motezite it with adsense & revcontent?

Sorry about the late reply, never got a notification. Yeah that basically sums it up, never really paid for traffic though. I mostly concentrated on building a page with good engagement. I only have one FB page that gets over 30% engagement with about 300k followers and it sends me over 10x that in free traffic.

Wow man - do you have any pointers?

We also have quite huge fanpages - but the best we can do is 10% organic reach - Absolute MAX. How on earth do you get 30% very impressive!

Click bait headlines and good pictures mixed with a little bit of emotional tugging. In the end, it really depends on your audience though. The conservative audience is mostly technically inept old people who are very passionate about the topic, so naturally the engagement levels will be pretty high compared to other niches.
