Information Overload! (8)

Information Overload!

I have been devouring everything related to AM for the past 4 months. I launched a facebook bed bugs offer early in the year and probably ended up with -5% ROI. I then abandoned it, as the conversions were starting to trail off.

Since then, I have tried sporadic offers (brain, beard oil) with very little success and now I have launch fear!

I was initially going to target the health vertical, particularly native advertising. I have since learned that it could take $10K to get the data required to blacklist the bad sites.

This has me worried that I will spend that amount of money and it might turn out that the offer has dried up.

I don't want to chase the big bucks. I want to do things right and sustainable. I definitely want to hit the health niche, but I don't think it is appropriate so early on. If I burn through $10K and have nothing to show for it, its really going to sting. (At the moment, I can really only set aside $1K of money to AM - that is money I can lose and is not a loan of some sort. I could get the $10K capital to do the health niche but it would be a loan.)

I was hoping for some advice here:
1) If I was to target health in the native space, how can I tell early on if the offer is no good or if i just need to go through blacklisting sites?
2) Should I try a different vertical/platform to build some money in my business so that I can then try the health niche and have the finances to lose that amount of cash? If so, what is a good newbie veritcal/platform to start with. Gaming on Facebook (given I have experience with that platform with tracking, audiences, etc)?

Thanks guys

-5% roi aint too shabby! Thats one optimization away from profit.

Were u running the offer direct through my network? Were the only net with a bedbugs offer i believe

You want a campaign with low cost traffic, where you can figure out your targeting with minimal cost. Ppv or mobile pops are a good place to start for inexpensive traffic. Look for a vertical in a tier 4 or 5 country. As for specific vertical suggestion, the Antivirus offers are popular, with multiple choices of offers to work with and in many countries.

And follow this.

You're the second guy down. Keep going. The more you launch, the more chance you'll have of finding something that works.

1K is more than enough. Just be smart. Don't spend too much on any one campaign, cut it before it keeps bleeding more red.

See what's working for others and duplicate it to give yourself a boost, then build upon what others are doing and make your ads stand out.

Thanks for the tips. A question:
What is a tier 4 or 5 country? I wasnt even aware it went that high. Is there some list that everyone is referring to with country tiers?

I found a list of countries by tier.

Thanks for that link, affiliatefrommichigan. It's a handy reference. I think it's also worth noting that the tier countries can vary depending on different factors, that they aren't set in stone.
