A newbie question here.
I am looking at an android mobile game app offer for [US] and I am thinking of using facebook with target to U.S. as my main traffic source to promote.
Other than that, I am thinking to place a picture on my game blog and website, so that when my followers click on it and link to my Landing page, they may download the game if they are interested.
However the dilemma is here, though the click on the link from my game blog/website is free (since it is my own website), but the people clicking it and maybe downloading the game may not be from U.S.
So the first question is; Does it mean that I will not be paid even if the person (e.g. from Australia) download the mobile game?
Secondly; Is it not recommended to promote the offer at different traffic sources then?
Third; If the answer to first question is "No". As the same offer also has other countries like Australia, Canada, etc. Is it possible to put one postback link for all the listed countries onto my blog/website, so that anyone from the listed countries download the game, I will get paid? (The same game comes in different offer for different designated countries)
Thank you in advance
1 - you won't be paid for the countries that are not in your target list, also the link may be opened under specific countries, geo-locked linked. For example, if the campaign targets only US, AU and CA, you will see installs only from these contries, other countries - you won't see installs and you won't be paid for them at all.
2 - depends on the campaign, you can check allowed traffic sources in the campaign description, you can easily get it from your CPA network
3 - yes, one postback is possible to add
You got it a bit mixed up, so let me help you straighten it up a little bit
First of all, as properllerads wrote above me, if the offer requires certain GEO traffic, they will not pay you for installs from a different GEO. In many cases, the affiliate network will redirect the traffic from other GEOs to some other offer.
Buying traffic on FB is a good idea, I mean, FB is known to convert app-installs - you need to target properly and generally learn the ins and outs of the source, but its the same everywhere and FB offers superb targeting, so it might work. You can buy traffic on other sources too, just follow the rules of the offer and test whatever you want. It might work, it might not, but there is no rule that would prohibit to use other traffic sources than FB - unless the offer specifically says so.
FB or any other traffic source doesn't have anything to do with what you decide to put on your blog, site or whatever. Its your site, so promote what you please
You will be placing a "referral link" on your site, not a postback link. Postback is a URL that will let your tracker know when a conversion happens. To be able to send traffic to several GEO targeted offers from your site (cause that's what you want to do here), you will need a tracker or a script that will detect GEO and send the click to the matching offer. If you decide to use a tracking tool like
Good luck
Hi guys,
Thank you for the explanation. I am beginning to understand more now.
Looks like more reading have to be done on the tracking portion
If you have questions, ask away.
You may find this guide to UNDERSTANDING (rather than just setting up) tracking useful: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-Read-This-Now
Hey ricash, how’s it going?
Besides what was already well covered in the previous answers, I’ll try to add something that might help you in what you’re looking for.
From what I understand here, your main issue is promoting an offer that targets the US market only, but you might have followers on your website, blog and FB page that are not from the US, and therefore you won’t be paid.
If I understood correctly and that’s the case, there’s a simpler option you can choose, where you’ll be paid regardless of the country your followers are coming from.
There are some affiliate networks that have created Smartlinks. The Smartlink is a simple url that is connected to the algorithm of the affiliate network that selects the best offer for the user (whichever country, carrier, operating system, etc. that he comes from.)
In other words, these networks deal with offers for all types of segments (countries, carriers, OS, hardware, etc.), so they have several offers for whatever segment your user comes from. These offers are always being tested by the algorithm of the network to see which one is performing better. This means that, for each segment, the one that has the best performance will be redirected to the user, wherever he’s seeing it from.
As an example, by using the Smartlink, a user from England with a Samsung Galaxy in the carrier Vodafone that clicks on what you post will see the best offer available for his GEO (country+carrier+operating system); and a user from Australia with an iPhone in the carrier Telstra, clicking in the same post, will see the best offer available for this GEO (Australia+Telstra+iOS).
Let me know if my answer helped.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate and ask away!
Cheers!
Hi guys, thank you for helping on this topic. I have read caurmen's link on tracking, though super long, it is very informative!
Now I'll have to try and error what/where to input on the tracking system, traffic source and Aff network.
Hi guys,
I have launched my first ever campaign !!
Though there were alot of hiccups while in the process of setting up the tracking.. I saw 17 conversions on facebook ad manager but the conversions are not coming in on
and I am seeing conversions again!
Very excited on this learning path.
Now I have learnt the tracking process. The next will be to learn how to change the url (that was provided by
The example url that voluum provided me to insert in the traffic source is http://j....voluumtrk.com/.....?age={age}
which I want to change to a url that does not reflect voluum.
Can anyone show me where I can find this guide, so that I can read it again?
Thank you.
