Wow that's awesome. Well done!

I have one question: how did you get the initial traffic from Facebook? Did you boost your posts, or was it completely organic?

cool stuff.

What are you doing for content? is it all "curated content" so to speak or are you writing/rewriting your own stuff?

Initially just posted links to my FB posts on various FB groups related to kids and parenting. Also spent maybe $50-100 on post engagement ads to get the ball rolling with the FB page. Currently the content is part curated and part written by freelance writers.

also, if anyone has experience with such sites and has suggestions they are also welcome

Very nice work - and a great case study. Thanks!

People periodically claim that authority sites are dead, or that it's impossible to grow them nowadays: as ever, not true, and this is a great example.

Particular congrats on growing the list - that'll be insanely valuable in future.

Very good job maxentin!

May I ask what were the costs to actually build up the content? I see there are over 1000 pages indexed by Google - which is a lot of content, I assume you not built it alone?

I pay freelancers $25-50 for each article. More on that here http://www.kidssafetynetwork.com/write-for-us/. But there's definitely less than 1000 articles on the site. Maybe a few hundred at most.

Yeah, the money is definitely in the list in this case.

Amazing work there, mate. Just curious, I went to the site and I don't see the usual tactics most webmasters use to get emails, eg giving out bribes, exit pops, pops in the middle of a read, and what have you. Just a form on the side telling people they can get updates by handing out their email.

Is it that easy to get the emails? Or maybe there's something I don't see happening here?

yeah, it's a bit more complicated than that but it's not something I want to post publicly

Holy Crap, That's a lot of emails!

1,000 subscribers+ per day? Did I read that right?

Awesome work man. I remember running an FB competition which lead to about 25k emails for $2,000ish adspend. Good way to get that quick boost of traffic happening. I just couldn't constantly make good content though so that project died off.

How many emails did you send out to make that kind of revenue from affiliate offers?

I'm sure you should be able to grow this site pretty big, you should hang on to it man.

Great work again.

Wow! Thats great man. This model great because its not like came & go affiliate campaigns. It does have asset which you can exit from business with very good return.

I am struggling to grow traffic on Viral news site, it motivated me to keep working on it.

Thank you

Awesome stuff man! 1000+ subscribers per day is a badass asset your building.

I am getting an error message when I goto the website you have listed,

"This site can’t be reached

kidssafetyneywork.com’s server DNS address could not be found."

Is 'http://kidssafetyneywork.com/' that the right URL?

It's probably www.kidssafetynetwork.com

I send around 1 promotional email per week. To make the $3,458.75 in revenue I sent out around 690,000 emails that contained an affiliate offer.

But 25k emails for $2,000ish is also very impressive. That's $0.08 per email. Would you mind sharing what type of contest was that?

Sure,

I read a post on the net about how some guy used the appsumo competition plug in to build a massive list, (I think it's called KIngsumo giveaways or something), which is a basic wordpress plug in that creates competition pages.

The idea of the comp is to give people more chances to win by referring entries. So I set up a really good shirt design, laser targeted the ad interests and directed people straight from FB to the comp page. I think at one stage I was paying 5 cents per single opt in! It was really good. The more enticing your product, the cheaper your opt ins will be. I would split test a bunch of different product comps before I settle for one though.

In your case, I'd make a lookalike audience from your current emails and run a competition to them. You'd get the best results that way imo.

In 2013-2014 I was doing a lot of this too. Nowadays not so much.
I managed to earn 5 figures from viral sites just from FB and Adsense Monetization although it's been evolving quickly and every few months I had to adjust my strategies.

Max days were 2k per day but overall the average was $300-500. I was building lists too, but instead of driving them to my viral sites i divided them into several niches (MMO, Biz opp, games, etc.) and started monetizing them with CPA offers for several months until I was tired of it and decided to focus on CPA mobile offers.

Thanks for the quick case study.

I'm sending affiliate offers to my list too. Just not biz opp, etc. - I want to keep it clean and build a long term site.

Goodluck with the partnership/sale! Have you considered flippa ~ when someone expresses interest just be upfront and say you are looking for a partnership.

Goood idea. I had a lot of people reach out already. If I don't find a good fit that way I will post on Flippa and say I'm looking for a partner.

FE International might be another option if you don't find a good fit. Not sure if they handle partnerships but they have a very good rep for site sales.

Thanks for the post man! Very helpful.

I was wondering how you were able to pull 30-40k emails from 100k traffic? Is there something I am missing?

Hey this is very interesting, great read!

May I ask what open rates you generally achieve with the e-mails you collect?

are you talking about newsletter emails or affiliate offer emails?

Curious to know where you find your freelancers. My company sells audio electronics and we want to start producing content about music to promote on FB to build an email list. The contributors listed on your site all appear to be in-house staff which adds to your site's credibility. Are you using something like Upwork or platforms specific to content generation? Thank you for sharing with us! This was a great read.

I'd recommend Upwork to hire - had much better results than freelancer. Ensure you get them to write you a unique test article and provide specific instructions so you can gauge the quality of their work! People love to say yes on those hiring platforms despite not necessarily possessing the skills.
