Hey everyone,
I've been looking into collecting emails with a email/zip submit to make campaigns that can I can profit from in the long run.
So I've learned how to build my own landing pages, and signed up for Aweber...but I'm confused about how to send them to my offer after the initial landing page.
So they'll input their email on the initial lander...and then how can they got from the aweber form submission...to the actual offer? Or is there no actual offer and I'm just collecting emails?
Edit: Or is it that I e-mail them the actual offer after they sign up to the list? Not really certain...
In aweber, when you set up the form (this is after you've created your new list), there's an option of where to send people once they submit their email. That's where you place the URL for the offer. It's in the basic settings, and it's called the "Thank you page."
It looks like this:

Are you using any tracking (i.e., CPV Lab)? Because then it's a little bit different.
I'm using Prosper202
Also, what if I'm using the single opt in structure, would the thank you page come up as soon as they enter their email in the forms and submit them? Or would I have to be using double opt in for it?
Edit: Well I just tested it out, and I think I'll start doing it in double opt in...because I couldnt collect any emails using it in single opt in for some strange reason...
I need to look for a tutorial or something on how to use aweber plus ppv
1) Eeek - not sure about 202. I use CPV Lab. With CPV Lab, you create a lead gen campaign and it tells you what codes to put where - on the LP, in the form, on the TY page if there is one before the offer...with 202, I have no clue.
2) Single/double optin won't change anything on the front. Double just means they'll get an email asking them to confirm they signed up before you can send them anything else. I highly recommend doing SINGLE optin. Unless you have a high SPAM complaint rate...and then it's double-optin, forced.
What do you mean, "I couldn't collect any emails using it in single opt in?" What did you experience?
3) There's nothing special about using aweber with PPV...it's the same as using aweber in any other situation.
Well I tested it out with single opt in, but no emails were showing up on my aweber list. When I looked at the web form, I saw that 4 were submitted, but on the list itself, none of them showed up. Also, it asked to confirm when I did submit an email even though I had it under the single opt in option.
Edit: Do I just put the javascript snippet onto my landing page and that's it? That should collect the emails right? And then the thank you page should be the actual offer using my affiliate link? I think that's how it should be done, but it's strange, I can see the emails I tested with on the web form, but NOT on the list itself.
Ok, hold up.
1) The emails you optin in with didn't show...where? When you clicked on Subscribers & searched all, did nothing show up after you opted in 4 times, assuming with 4 different email addresses?
2) If you opted in several times...then you needed to confirm despite having single optin because that's what happens if you try to opt in multiple times from the same IP. It's aweber's way of protecting people from spam & making sure you're not sitting there entering their info in.
3) What's your from email - is it a gmail account, or a domain email account? Are your autoresponder emails ending up in SPAM? You do have at least one queued up to send immediately, right?
Yes, the javascript should work, and yes, the TY page should be your offer.
I'm still confused by your comment that no emails were showing up on your list...I always see emails, even if they're still awaiting confirmation (in the case of double-optin).
Ah yes I see the emails underneath the subscribers tab.
However, in my list, it says 2 overall, but 0 subscribed, I guess that's because I sent from the same IP and did not confirm it.
I also think I setup the autoresponder email AFTER I tested out these emails, so when I tried again, it didn't work at all and said awaiting confirmation. And yeah I'm using a gmail account.
SO based on the above facts and what you've told me, I'm gonna assume it works haha. Thanks liane, I'll set up a simple Walmart email submit targeted to just a few targets and see how it goes.
Just thought I'd mention here I'm in the middle on writing up a very detailed guide on how to do this the cheapest way.
I discuss the best methods for collecting emails, why choosing a popular niche is the way to go, unique angles to take, how to setup daily emails without seeming like spam, etc..
That would be epic, mind if I ask when it'll get released?
Yeah, that sounds awesome. Especially that thing about "daily" and "without seeming like spam" ;-)
By end of next week for sure, it's literally going to cover everything so I'm trying not to rush it.
Awesome, looking forward to it
hi Jordan, just wondering if there's any update on it?
I haven't used Aweber as often as other autoresponders but I understand that people have had issues with the single opt-in feature (I certainly have which I'll talk about in a minute) where the single opt-in list is subject to a confirmation email (which shouldn't be the case surely).
I was told that if you want to use single opt-in for future campaigns then your first campaign when opening your account must be single opt-in. So, lets say that you set up a new account and set up your first campaign as double opt-in then you are stuck with running double opt-in campaigns after that and can't ever do the single opt-in again on that account.
With this in mind, I opened up an Aweber account to set up my first pre-pop campaign (i use getresponse mainly). This was set to single opt-in but I was horrified when all of my generated leads were subject to a confirmation email!! Aweber claimed that this security measure was activated due to the script on my Lander (i wasn't aware of any script other than perhaps 5 lines of PHP which I was using to pass the keywords-does this qualify as a script? I'm not a coder). I exchanged several emails with Aweber, they then changed their mind and said it was now to do with a reference/link to getresponse (I had since changed the form to getresponse because of my active campaign and their slow response to my emails). They were very fuzzy in all of this but they were very kind and very apologetic so I am not having too much of a dig, just stating the facts. I would still use them because they are a great company with great deliverability. I was a bit peeved as I lost 20 opt-ins (people who never confirmed). Luckily it was early days in the campaign so I hadn't generated many leads at that point. Anyway I haven't had much experience with Aweber so any clarification in their policies would be good to hear.
At the end of the day, the single opt-in option is a provided feature but they can be super protective. Yes there are list building risks associated with single opt-ins but I've always been comfortable with it.
Agreed. Any update on this?
its a 2 year guide in the making :P lol
Did you ever post this guide Stackman? I looked through your old threads but couldn't find any...
*bump*
This guide would be sooo epic!
Looks like a lot of people are interested in this guide...including myself. Its been over 2 years so is it save to assume it was never released?
