FB Beginnings - Couple Gaming Qs

Hey STMers,

I'm getting things setup to start right now (Voluum, hosting, etc) and I want to jump into gaming on FB. You know how most folks start.

Now my AM for the network I'm most likely gonna work with suggested 4 games based on what I told him.

Tier 1 geos, desktop games. He suggested: Warframe, Bleech, Guardians of Divinity, Berserk. I'm going through them each to see what I like, don't like about the game play and such. Also, I'm gonna do more research on the offer pages themselves. Now my initial question is - Desktop gaming vs Mobile on FB, In the state of FB now, which one would you suggest based on exp?

Also, how do I find out if the games life cycle plateaued? Google trends?

I'm looking to choose a good offer, get this all setup and running asap to gather data. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

1- Mobile FB. Although I believe you shouldn't listen to anyone before you try and test yourself, I can tell you that almost all of my successful campaigns (gaming and other verticals) have been on mobile Facebook... but this is just me
2- I'd check the reviews/forum posts/YouTube videos on the game too
3- Just make sure to test a lot of offers. Some convert surprisingly better than others

I haven't run gaming on Facebook in a while, but I hope this helps.

Yeah I hear you - thanks. Since gaming is different than other verticals. I wouldn't want to create 400 different landers for all the games if it's not entirely needed.

I'll see what I can do. Thanks!

To check if games (specifically mobile) have "plateaued" you may consider checking out appannie.com though you may need paid account to get the data you really need. Free account might get you some decent enough insights though. Attached a screen shot to show general idea of what you can get from appannie free account. With paid account you can get intelligence, app and ad analytics, etc. Socialbakers.com may be another decent source but seems they charge now for their data as well (back in the day use to be free site, fuk I'm getting old). However, you can get some decent insights from basic access from pages within their site like http://www.socialbakers.com/statisti...tainment/apps/ Where you can turn around and target people who like these top apps and/or top fb pages, brands, etc. That said, from your OP it sounds like you're going after MMO type games and if targeting on FB I would highly advice to avoid targeting casual games and/or that entire demographics (typically women 40+, think Bigfish Games, King, etc. that demo) as your quality on MMO games will be shit in return. I would focus on compiling a list of similar style games that have big presence on FB (most of them do) and target those users, perhaps with messaging along the lines of "Tired of XXX Game? Then try Berserk, 10x more addicting..." or something along those lines. Just have to be careful though as some advertisers may not like comparison type ad copy in your ads. Check with your AM first if in doubt. Hope that helps...

PS - Bleech is super old and probably saturated, massive database if I'm not mistaken. I would try to focus on new games, up and coming games, etc. vs. old games like Bleech. Just my 2cents. That said, angrybirds is still a top 20 something app on Appstore last I looked! In otherwords, always new users to be had...

Definitely helps a lot! I'll check them out. It looks like I may be going mobile after all. I'm just not feeling the desktop offers at the moment. Other than I'm not sure how to vet them properly without testing.

I'll have more chance and higher confidence with the data from the mobile sites. I'll be creating a follow along once I get it up and going. Hopefully VERY soon.

Thanks again.

If you can't find the app / offer anywhere in these tools or on the web, for another GEO - would you bother trying to promote it?

The network has an offer I want to promote, but there is no data anywhere about the app.
