Blog Style Landing Page vs. "Traditional" Squeeze Page?

This is my first post on the forum, so don't bite too hard.

I'm really confused when it comes to landing pages. I always think of them as the squeeze pages that try to get people to click a link to the product offer, or capture email, etc.

I've been clicking on some native ads just to see what type of offers people are running. What I'm noticing is that some people are being sent to a "blog style" post rather than what I think of as a classic landing page. So they read the interesting article (still an advertisement), and then they are prompted to click an affiliate link and land on some type of offer (ie, they have to fill out a form).

My questions are:

1) Are both of these pages still considered "landing pages", even though the style is different?
2) What are some advantages & disadvantages for using each?

Thanks!

1.yes
2.advantages of squeeze page are they work better for email capture, which allow you to control the conversation even if you dont get the sale. Higher ltv.
Disadvantages are you have to write and send emails that will convert.
Advantages of a flog are they are personal, 1st person, story based, and more engaging.
Disadvantages are that many ad networks dont like them.
