Hi guys
I know many of us would love to hear your story about quitting your day job to get into full IM/Affiliate marketing. Or any tips you reccomend for people looking to make this big move. I know one of the things I worry about is the social aspect and lack of it. Since your working at home most likely alone.
i'd like to hear stories of folks doing this when they're making really good money at their 9-5
"The three most harmful addictions are heroin, carbohydrates, and a monthly salary."
Anyone recently?
Read the success story section mate!
It doesn't matter whether someone left their job last week or last year, the same lessons apply.
If you treat AM like a proper business and start building a team, then there is no excuse to not to have a balanced life.
I know a lot of affiliates that don't invest time into their social life for whatever reason. A social life doesn't just fall onto your lap while you're working in your office. You have to make an effort.
It's a personal choice. Some people are more comfortable without life balance. But they can't blame AM for getting into that position.
Thanks @MRGREEN - very solid point.
Here's an article I wrote on advice to quit your job
http://charlesngo.com/leaving-job/
As far as the social aspect
1. You can always work in a co-working space. You'll be surrounded by other tech minded people
2. Have those set times when you're out of the house. Go to the gym after work or go to classes of some sort after work
3. Every other day I would go to a different location to work. Coffee shop, library, etc. Bring noise cancelling head phones
I actually read your site, well I pulled the trigger and resigned yesterday after 2 years of consistent affiliate income at a level that keeps me higher than what my salary WAS! I feel so free. Now time to focus on my business!
You always have to balance your life. Going to the gym, meeting friends, should always be part of your routine. Without doubt, you do spend more time alone, and it does mean you have less social time than a 9-5 job, but you can always use the extra hours to do cool social things.. it's all about how you manage your time.
yeah i hit the gym now at 5am (due to having a son and corporate job) but now i can do that a little later
its going to be an adjustment, but excited to see what I can do now with more time. Been working every weekend and everyday after my day job for like 2+ years to build what i have today..
Quitting your job feels great. Especially if that job sucked, as in my case. I think we all go through the phase of "over-grinding" and then we realize life sucks when we do that and then live a more balanced life.
2 years of steady income is more than enough. Congrats and hope you enjoy your new found freedom.
