Weird skype message from my traffic source rep

As per subject, here's what the rep sent me:

"I wanted to offer you a deal, let's launch campaign together - on CPI/CPL deal, each campaign we launch I need from you $80-100 for each campaign PAID, this is just in case the campaign doesn't perform well. If it does good, you don't pay the 100$ and just pay for conversions.

I can make good money for you.

I can tell you what offers to bring as well."

I'm spending low xxx per day on this platform, with 100% ROI on most days. Granted I won't take him up on his offer anyway since I have no experience in CPI/CPL. But this sounds fishy as hell. Or am I just paranoid?

His Skype got "hacked" and he'll ask you for BTC or Western Union.

Block the guy and email the network directly asking what's up.

If I email the network, how would I know the email won't reach the rep? Not sure which email to use.

I think it's just his way of asking you to try their managed platform on a CPL basis.

Ask him to explain what he means. Could be just that if a campaign is tested with $100 and works well on CPM model, the ad network is willing to go CPI/CPL model for you. If you don't have to send the money to him, but it's just normal ad spend from the platform, I think you don't have to worry about it so much.

The message from him can be interpreted so many ways, you should try to find out which way he meant it and not jump to conclusions. It doesn't look written by a native English speaker and that just adds to the many interpretations.

No network should ever ask you for money or some sort of you send them money deal. Some of our Skype accounts at our network ( and some other networks too) got hacked last year and the person was asking for bitcoin. Unfortunately some people gave this person what they were asking for. If you have any doubt i would contact the network via e-mail ( you should have a contact for one of the owners).

Hope this helps!

Yeah he wasn't specific as to what the offer is and stuff. I don't even understand half the stuff you guys are mentioning. I'm new and just got my first profitable campaign after working my ass off since january. not sure what to do with this. What are the right questions to ask him/her?

You, as an affiliate, should never pay the network to run a campaign. That's the world upside down.

I would suggest to do a descent background check on this network - since when are they in business? Any bad reviews on the internet?
Also, get on the phone with your AM and clear things out. Email/skype can lead to miscommunications, especially between people that have different mother tongues.
