Hi everyone,
I've decided to follow Mobile Cookbook: Appetizer, so this is what I did past week:
1. Created account on Go2Mobi (commit myself to spend at least $1000 on this traffic source)
2. Applied to several AN (I now have accounts with F5, Clickdealer, Adsimils, Addiliate, Avazu, Peerfly and Max Bounty)
3. Started few campaigns, so here are results:
CAMPAIGN #1:
Offer:App instal
GEO:India
Payout: $0.3-$0.6 (I've tested this same offer from 3 different affiliate networks)
http://prntscr.com/aucvbd
After $20 spent and no conversion, I've decided to stop this offer, because at this time doesn't work for me.
Creatives:http://prntscr.com/aucw77
CAMPAIGN #2:
Offer: Shopping voucher
GEO:Singapore
Payout: $1.2
http://prntscr.com/aucxys
I run it for already 4 days and I'm nowhere near that $20 spend. I think that's because of low CTR. Beside changing my creative only thing that come to my mind is to increase daily budget to see will that impact on number of clicks
Creatives:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/idsyfzwcv...TPVlSXNAa?dl=0
CAMPAIGN #3
I'm working on it right now. I've choose an offer for it, it will be SOI sweep for Italy, with payout $0.45. I'm just coming up with angles and ideas how to target specific market and how to define that market. Any help appreciated
Workflow for starting campaigns
1. Ask AM for offers. Then choose the one I think has the easiest conversion flow. Then I find some reviews on that product, so I can come up with some angles. I'm also using tutorial here on STM how to come up with 21 angles.
2. Create banners. So far I didn't have any spy tool, so I didn't rip banners. I create them in Pixlr, but from now I'll create them in Photoshop
3. Start campaign
Future plans:
1. Complete campaign #3
2. Start campaign #4 but with Landers
Main problem so far:
1. I'm not sure which vertical to choose and specialize in
Any feedback appreciated
To save yourself some time and headache, seriously rip some banners and LPs. Im not telling you to base your future business on ripping stuff from other people, but right now you have no idea what works and what doesnt and you need to get an idea about the baseline performance. And the easiest way is to rip something that is running somewhere already.
I would also recommend to stay away from generic app install like UCBrowser, thats not gonna work anymore.
As for the vertical, its really up to you, but pretty much any AM will tell you sweeps are pushed the most now. So they obviously work, but they are also getting saturated pretty fast. They will still work for some more time, so if you want to push sweeps, do it NOW!
Stay in GEOs with cheap traffic and low payouts, it will be easier to learn the basics this way and it wont cost an arm and a leg.
Good luck
@matuloo Thanks so much for feedback, you always give me great advice!
I'm starting a sweep offer to see how will that work. I'm thinking creating LP although in Appetizer it says that it's not necessary. And I've asked my traffic sources manager about CPM in different GEOs, and he send me excel file so I can see what GEO has smallest CPM
I was in a mess today, and probably will be next 2-3 days so I'll have very limited time for working. Today I only managed to come up with some angles for my Italian (Iphone 6) sweep offer, and I will share it will you, and hopefully you could help me to choose the best

When thinking about Iphone, I was checking Italian news (gazzetta dello sport) and google trend for Italy.
Plan for tomorrow:
1. Create banners
2. Create LPs and start campaign
3. If I have time, I'll look for offer for my new campaign (It's Orthodox Easter next week so I'm thinking to use that as an angle for some offer)
Any feedback appreciated
Thanks for reading!
agree with matuloo, rip some proven banners and landers to first, and test more offers (not the same offer with 3 different networks). after you have found a working offer, then test out your different angles. some offers are totally crap and wouldn't convert no matter how good your banners/landers/angles are. find a good offer with proven banners and landers, then optimize from there.
hope this helps. all the best.

So you picked an iphone sweep, ok why not, let me point you to a post I made about angle creation just for this vertical, maybe you will find some useful info in it :
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...for-new-people
I would still recommend to start with something you rip, that way you should get at least some conversions and see if an offer has potential or not.
Keep us posted with the progress!
When testing offers, what do you usually look for? Is it say -50% ROI with proven creatives without optimization?
Great thread, I'm in a similiar position to you, just starting out with the appetizer. Best of luck to you !
matuloo -> Do you suggest getting a spying tool for ripping banners/landers or manually doing it by installing apps and checking what banners are displayed etc... ?
Hi everyone,
I'm glad I see so much replies here
@matuloo next time I'm in Slovakia, got to buy you a beer or something
I've subscribed to AdPlexity, and had no trouble about finding LP to scrape for this (iphone sweepstke) purpose. However finding banner was a little harder. Eventually I found some banners and I noticed 3 groups of banners for Iphone sweep (facebook themed noticing you've won a gift, spin and win apple prices and carrier targeted banner) I'll create separate campaign for every banner and see what will happen. Next thing I need to do is scrape a LP. I know basic of HTML so I hope it will be enough to do that
That is my task for today
Thank you and @acepowermarketing for worthy advice
@bradh_ According to appetizer, if offer don't convert on $20 spend, I stop that campaign and move to another.
@klakteuh You too mate, thanks for stopping by
Things I need to do today:
1. Scrape banners (do I need to copy exact same image, or create same on my own)
2. Scrape LP (I think I'll be able to do that)
3. Start a campaign
Things I need to do tomorrow:
1. Find new offer. I've decided to always have 3 campaigns live until I hit something I can work on. So after I stopped my UC campaign, I need to replace it with this new offer.
Can't wait to see how will this perform
UPDATE ON CAMPAIGN #2
My CTR is starting to go up (0.7% was today vs 0.25% the previous days) but still have very few clicks. So far I was able to spend only little more than $2. I'm thinking to drop this campaign, what do you think about that?
Is that for the UC browser offer with payout 0.20$ ? Im a noob but from what I've been reading, if you've spent 10-20x the payout amount, it seems fine to drop the campaign if you haven't had any conversions.
Hi klakteuh, I've tried 3 UC browser offer from 3 networks. Payout was 0.3, 0.36 and 0.6, none of them converts.
Quick update:
I'm still having trouble with Italian Iphone sweep campaign, because I can't figure out how to edit dynamic banners nor edit scraped page in html. I've found someone to do that for me this time and in the future I will hire assistant who will be in charge only with web design(html) and creating banners (photoshop, flash). Since it's Orthodox Easter here in Serbia this weekend, I'm going to take a break for 2,3 days, so I need to find one more offer and start new campaign until I go on mini break
I've found top 5 the cheapest countries according to Go2Mobi (Turkey, Indonesia, Qatar, India, South Africa) and will run the next offer in one of those states.
Sorry guys, somehow forgot to get back to this thread, tho I do my best to check those I replied in.... btw : dont hesitate to send me a PM if I stop replying in a thread I did before, its simple too many threads to follow so I can miss some at times
bradh_ : when testing new offers, what Im looking for initially, is whether there are at least some green placements or banners or LPs ... something has to show promise or the campaign is dead. Let me emphasize the fact that I now rarely start something without a proven set of banners or LPs... you simply aggregate these as times flows by. If I was to start from scratch, I would rip some creatives and I would still want to see something at least close to the green numbers - it could be just one placement, maybe just 2 hours or something, the bottom line is : you need to be getting conversions. Oh yes and look for the damn bots, they will screw up everything.
klakeuth : spytools do one thing basically, they save your time and time is money. You could eventually figure out the profitable angles yourself after some time, but why waste time? You could also install apps and travel to GEOs of your interest, buy cards there and browse the apps to see the carrier targeted ads ... but why would you do it? Buy adplexity or whatever tool for a month and save 500 banners and 50 LPs, then tweak them till there is life on earth
The price seems high, but when you realize how much stuff you can download in a month, the price is peanuts. So yes, I do recommend using a spytool as INSPIRATION, grab whats there and tweak it.
bnvltd : Im always up for a few beers
You like to waste time too, dont ya?
Do you realize what people and oDesk and fiverr are willing to do for 5 bucks? Just send them the url and they will hand the ripped lander back to you on a plate. If you want more pro service, use the service of your fellow country man Attila : bannerslanders.com. Dont be afraid to invest a couple bucks into your AM career, remember that time is money, you need to be optimizing data and not wrapping your brain around things someone can do for you for a few bucks
BTW : UC browser's good days are over, you cant really make money with it in a legit way with the current traffic prices.
Hi everyone,
I've just come back from vacation, I guess I celebrated Easter a little longer than I expected
As soon as I get to the office, I'll post an update on my journey
Thanks everyone for contribution, especially @matuloo
Hello,
So after I came back I wrote down my goals for the following month - I've made a monthly plan. My goal is to start 15 campaigns by the end of May, and to advance on Main Course in June. I will create 10 campaigns following mobile cookbook, and 5 on my own using LPs and so. Also I wrote down my work flow or at least what should look like
Here it is:
I Choosing an offer
- choose vertical (between app instals, pin and e-mail submits. sweep)
- ask AM for recommendation and also check newsletter
- for app install check at what phase of life cycle is, for e-mail and pin submit check the flow of the offer
- spy to see is someone promoting that offer
Question: Should I first choose an offer and then GEO, or vice versa?
II ANGLES
- spy on others
- follow caurmen guide to 21 angles
- write some on my own (segment my market, determine age groups, check why people want my offer, and why don't)
III CREATIVES
- rip/create banners and LPs (right now I'm choosing between hiring a local HTML designer or outsource that to fiverr/bannerslanders.com
IV SET UP CAMPAIGN
- set up affiliate link
- set up targeting
- submit creatives
- set up tracking link
What to test:
1. Expensive vs cheap GEO (Go2Mobi send me their "price list" for every geo)
2. same offers from different networks
3. SOI vs DOI
06.05
What I did today is contact every AM I have in my Skype contact to choose offer for my next campaign and come up with this one:
Network: Clickdealer
Offer: File manager (it's app install, I've checked on google play they have 5-10 million of installs which is less than some mainstream apps so I think I have a chance with this one. Correct me if I'm wrong)
GEO: Available in 20+ GEOs but I choose South Africa because it's 5th least expensive GEO acording to Go2Mobi and English banners can go
Payout: $0.12
That's all I managed to do today (it took me about 2h) because I have to do some stuff regarding my other business, and to make a decision whether to outsource LP and banner design to fiverr or hire someone from my city
Plan till end of the week:
- start campaign with this offer tomorrow
- on Sunday start campaign with Italian Iphone sweep offer (I didn't start it yet because I have trouble with banner and LP scraping
)
Some ideas for next offers:
- cash for survey (I had some conversion back in the past on Bing with this type of offers)
- AV offer for Serbia (Bumped on it today)
- AV, WA, booster, and battery saver offer
Any feedback appreciated
Thanks for following my journey
P.S. Tools I use are:
STM subscription - $99
Adplexity - $149
HMA pro - $12
Hello,
So this is what happened in last two days:
1. I've hired html/css and Photoshop guy, he will be in charge of my banners and LPs in the future
2. Started a new app install campaign in South Africa (Waiting to be approved). I've come up with 20+ angles, but choose this one: You have been selected for free app because I saw some people run it on Adplexity. Tomorrow I'll run same offer but with different angle (If you’re using Bluetooth everyone can see your files. Protect yourself for free!) to see how will that work.
Question: Do you think that's a mistake?
3. My SG voucher campaign has been running for over 2 weeks now and still hasn't made $20 spend. Any suggestion on what to do with that?
Plan for tomorrow:
1. Find pin and e-mail submit offer
2. Create a campaign for that offer
Looking forward to your feedback
Hello again
Let me take a look at your questions one by one.
1. GEO or Vertical, what to choose first? I would say pick a vertical type first, then look for suitable offers in cheap GEOs and pick one based on traffic price and expected level of competition.
2. You chose app-installs, maybe you already noticed Im not a big fan of them anymore, but if you wanna try them, go for it. South Africa might be a good choice, its quite large GEOs and prices arent high there unless you target 3G which you dont need in case of app installs.
3. LPs and banners - its a good idea to start working with someone on this, definitely a wise choice.
4. As for the angles - hard to really comment here, you need to try it. I can tell you one thing tho, the space on mobile banners is limited and the last thing you want to waste it with long sentences - short works better. IE : Using Bluetooth? Your files are at RISK! Protect them! ... something like this. Whenever possible (according to network rules) also add a CTA button : "get the app, install app, download app..."
5. The SG voucher campaign : open the placement report in go2mobi and look if there are many placements with bids but no wins, if there are, you need to bid higher on those to increase volume. Try more banner formats. If its really hopeless in your opinion, simply scratch it.
Keep going
Hello matuloo,
Once again, thanks for your valued feedback
I'm not definitely with app installs, I'm looking to start a one campaign for pins, lead gens, sweeps, app installs and then choose. I have one more question: I've noticed that sweeps are the most pushed things on Adplexity, but only on POPS. Haven't seen anyone doing it on mob display, but I would give it a try? Should I go with that, or stay with what others run on Go2Mobi (mostly app installs :/)?
And question for others if they are willing to share
What affiliate networks do you take your offers from, and which vertical would you connect with some AN?
Have a nice day everyone
P.S. I'm still waiting my camp to be approved, and right now looking for new offer to start a new campaign tomorrow. Will keep you updated
Its totally up to you. Usually, when so many people push something, there is a reason for it so it probably works. On the other hand, it also means the vertical will get saturated pretty fast, so you might as well go against the herd and do better that way. Sweeps on pops work, but Im sure they can work on display too, however there is the extra variable you need to take care of - banners - so it will be harder to master most likely. Its also true some verticals works better on certain traffic types and the pops/sweeps combo seems to be one of those
Right now I'm thinking about pushing everything on display and pops, I mean If I'm already creating LP for display I can use it on pops too. Or to first find converting offer on display, and then test it on display or vice versa? Or to just stay focused on display? Lots of question I know
Thanks
You can use the same LPs for both, but those for pops should be shorter and more catchy while you can let your creativity flow more with LPs for display because those people already clicked on a banner so they showed some interest. You need to find your own way of doing this and form your style
I guess I should test all of these
Right now I'm able to spend $1000+ monthly on AM, so just need to organize things well, test a lot, and success will come
Will post and update tomorrow
Thanks matuloo for follow up
Updates
File manager campain:
GEO: ZA
Clicks: 205 (but on clickdealer sais only 176)
Conversions: 3
Revenue: $0.36
Costs: $34.95
Profit: -$34.59
ROI: -97%
CTR: 0.9% (0.54% lowest, and 1.16% highest)
WR: 43.26% (Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think that's too little for auto bid)
CPC: $0.17
Questions:
1. According to mobile cookbook if an offer converts after $20 spend I should allow it to spend $60. But would it be worthwhile because my CPC is 0.05 higher than my CPA?
I guess ZA is not that cheap as Go2Mobi said it was
2. Should I try this offer to other GEO, and see which one is the cheapest and try to optimize it in that GEO?
3. Set up my own bids (high, mid and low) and see will I get better WR and perhaps better CTR(lower CPC)?
4. I've run 320x50 banners instead of 300x50. Is that mistake?
Good things:
1. Got my first conversion on mobile display
2. Achieved highest CTR since I'm running campaigns on go2mobi.
Bad things:
1. I set up my tracking on Go2Mobi wrong so it isn't connect with clickdealer (doesn't show conversions)
Future plans:
1. I've contacted few AMs and going to try AV pins. I've noticed lot of those offers from Serbia, so I found 9 AV pins for Serbia and going to start split test.
How much offer should I include in one split test?
Thanks for follow up
Looking forward to your comment
Hello,
there will always be some discrepancy between the clicks you see in your source or tracker and what the affiliate network records. This is normal and nothing to worry about if the difference isnt too big.
The results look pretty bad tho. Is this directlinked or through an LP? An LP can increase the CVR but here you would need a miracle
The CPC you are paying is very high too, its almost 17 cents - this simply cannot work with an offer that pays 12 cents per conversion. The banner CTR doesnt look too bad so you're bidding too high. Turn off autobidding and set the bids yourself.
1. you cannot continue with this campaign, it needs dramatic changes. This way, its just throwing money out of the window.
2. I would not give up on the GEO so quickly.
3. Definitely, set your own bids. I would start with a MID bid and act based on the data.
4. 320x50 are good for volume. You can try the other formats too, actually you must try them at some point. For now maybe stick to this one so you don't have to make too many banner variations. But its up to you.
Suggestions : stay in the GEO for some more, but consider changing the offer. Even if you decide to stick with this app-install for now : test more banners and LPs. Disable autobidding. Look for placements with totally shitty CTR and blacklist them. Fix the tracking.
Thanks for feedback
I'm gonna stick with GEO and try some other offer with my own bids. How long should I stay in one GEO, when should I ditch it?
Also, I'm starting an AV pins for Serbia and have 8 offers and 10 LP and looking to do a split test. How many offers/LPs per split-test? And how much spend should I allow before making decision? CPAs are $2-$3
Will post an update soon
Hi matuloo,
Thanks for your feedback. I've been super busy about some college stuff past two days, so I didn't do much of work
I've already contacted my AM and I'm expecting he to send me some recommendations for ZA offers. Also I set up everything ready for my Serbian AV campaign, but I stucked when I should host my LPs, so waiting for tomorrow for my designer to help me with that
Hopefully I will run those 2 campaigns tomorrow + Italian Iphone sweep that I should lunch days ago.
Hear ya soon
Post here when you got the new results.
Quick update:
Campaign I:
Offer: Av pins (3 offers)
GEO: Serbia
LPs: Riped lot's of them, but for now using 3 in rotation
Good news: 7/8 my banners got approved although they're pretty aggressive. In first few minutes I've got 16 clicks with CTR 30%
Bad news: I've found out that my
Campaign II:
Offer: Iphone sweep
GEO: IT
Lps Riped and edited 2 of them and I'll use them in rotation
Waiting to be approved for this one, in same time trying to figure out how to set up
If someone has link to some cool voluum tutorial, please PM or post it here
UPDATE: I've set up iphone campaing, and everything is ok now. But I have trouble with AV campaign. In fact my click URL for landing page in voluum now redirect to italian sweep offer. Does someone know how to choose click URL for each campaing http://prntscr.com/b4h6tj?
UPDATE2: Everything set up
I'm live again
UPDATE1: Vollum shows me $3 revenue, but on my affiliate network dashboard I can't find that. I'm still having trouble with click url and waiting a response for voluum team.
No, all placemwents are equal except from one but I knlw from my previous camps that it's performing the best on Mobfox. Will stop this then. Thanks for help on making this decision
Ok, I'm moving forward:
I've choose few GEOs and will run everything (apps, pins, sweeps, lead gens) in them until I make them profitable
I'm staying in those GEO until I make profitable camp! I'll start with antivirus.
I'll start with generic banners and angles I've found on adplexity. Once I have decent (not necessarily great) offer or lander I'll try my unique angles and test targeted AV banners.
What I did so far:
1. Ripped landers, read STM about landers, and modify them a little (improved copy, add some elements, some scripts...)
2. Ripped banners (I'll start with generic, but ripped those just in case)
3. Send copy to translate. I'll start first in 3 GEO - TH, ID and Bangladesh, will see how that goes and will continue on other GEO.
I decided not to do bot test for now (only do it once I found something promising) because I'll run those camps on three traffic sources (avazu, go2mobi and buzz city) and maybe on 2 exchanges and I guess it would take too much time and money to do that. My plan is to start camps, and if I have decent volume and steady conversion flow, then perform a bot test. What do you think about it?
Next thing (important)
1. Get a CDN and find out how to set everything up. Hope that's gonna boost my LP speed and my ROI
That's it for now, will update you once I do something interesting
Please try also POP traffic, from some reason these generic banners are not performing so well on DSPs as they used just a few months ago. It could be just my experience of course, so I don't want to tell you to stop there, but definitely try POPs as well.
Hello,
I've just started POP campaign in Brazil and Thailand for sweeps. Will see how will that go on, we still have to learn about pops because this is our very first camp on this source
We just ripped and cleaned one page from adplexity (with most volume) and put some offers in rotation. Goal is to find those which converts or at least to cut immediately those which are no. We started it in PropellerAds and PopAds.
Also I have my creatives ready for antivirus pins in Thailand and Indonesia. It was a real pain in the ass to find offers for this GEOs, and I'm still waiting for approval, so I hope I can start that camp tomorrow. I'll run with generic banners whenever I can until I found few decent converting offers.
I figured out it would be smart to ask for offers first and then come up with creatives it would really save time
Because I firstly create my landers and only then found that for those GEOs are really low on these kind of offers.
Next step:
1. Come up to my office really early so I can manage to have a chat with AMs because they need to send me lot's of offers for lot of GEOs.
2. Once I have offers start making creatives (probably for Argentina and Brazil). Question: I already have some AV pages in my collection. Should I just translate them and run them, or see what's running in every specific GEO and run that page?
P.S. If someone is having offers for Egypt, Ghana, Latvia and Bangladesh please contact me.
P.S.S I would really appreciate if someone can send me some useful articles about POP traffic
Long term goal:
1. I'll be sending my designer all possible articles about page speed so that we can reach amazing speed
2. Find the most effective way of starting campaign (so it take me less time to start campaign, so I can focus on optimizing)
3. Test testing methods. I've wrote down few tactics for testing landers and offers and will test each one of them until I found the best
Hello,
We've decided to give POPs a try, and I'm thinking about testing offers and GEOs in pops because I can do it faster (no banners and more traffic) and after I found something decent, run it on display as well. Thai camp only had one offer (which is bad btw) so I'll post stats for BR camp.
So here are stats for 22/09 and 23/09:
http://prntscr.com/clmajr - Pop ads (click loss around 12%)
http://prntscr.com/clmb8c - Propeller ads
What did we do: Test one lander and 4 offers. Two stood out in terms of conversions but one was outperforming the other in terms of ROI (-60% vs -80%). We will continue from here with that offer
Next step:: Rip one more type of lander, and create 2 of our own. Now we have 4 very different type of landers and converting offer. Goal is to find best lander type and then test different angles, copy and design around that landing page type. We will finish those landers tomorrow so we'll start camp then. Once we found working LP type we'll test more offers.
Tasks for tomorrow:
1. Finish landers and start BR camp
2. Find more TH sweeps and restart TH campaign with only one ripped lander.
3. I have lot's of AV landers I modify a little, and will translate a copy for few GEOs and start AV camp
4. Find more BR offers so I have them ready once LP test is over.
Technical stuff: I need to speed up my landers because it will boost both my CTR (which is extremely low I guess??) and my CR. Right now my lander speed is 700ms (mesaured from San Jose in California) which is not totally bad but definitely not the fastest page. If you have some resources on this matter bookmarked please share with me.
Any feedback, specially on POP traffic appreciated
Another update:
1. Brasil sweep campaign
I've tested lot's of offers on this one and one keep beating the hell out of others so I went with that one. I've tested few types of landers (2 form Adplexity, and 2 I've created) and one stood out. I've then made 3 variations of it, and as I write this, two of them are green. Will post stats tomorrow, once test is finished. I've created 4 camps for this, Android (carrier and wifi) and iOS (carrier and wifi) and so far Android wifi is leading
. Also I run stagered bids and seems like lowest bid perform the best. Also my payout is low and with high bid I was running I need to achieve some unreal CTR and CR to break even, so low bid would be smart
Next steps:
1. Try iphone 7 and samsung 7 offers
2. Test pin offers for iphone and samsung
3. Come up with new angles and test them
4. Optimize best lander further and then start cutting some variables.
5. Use best lander, translate it and try in other GEOs
2. BR AV campaign
I've started 5 offers with one lander (most used for AV on adplexity) and got only 2 conversions on $40 spend. I'll add some more landers and will see if I get more conversions on this one. Will try with staggered bids as well.
3. TR and GH AV campaign
Same thing as BR camp. Run few offers with one lander to find winner. Payouts for TR are little higher (around $5) so my budget and bid for this camp are high as well
Next steps:
1. Try BR sweep offer on Avazu display
2. Test some whatsapp offers (my favourite)
Any feedback appreciated
Stay tuned
OK, glad to hear that you are finally starting to see promising results on the BR sweep campaign. The fact that android wifi is working well for you is also awesome, that means volume will be there. Let's focus on this now and see if you can get it into profit - waiting to see the numbers
As you can see, POPs are all about the right offer now, you need to find a good one and the rest will click on it's own.
Sorry for not posting a while I was really busy with some non related to AM stuff.
As for my BR sweep camp, I made a mistake - my payout is not 0.25$, it is 0.25 brazilian reals which is 0.08 dolars and in that case, this is not best offer, so I run another one
I've also tested some landers and right now I'm split testing two types of landers, and after that I'll make some changes to the winner. I found that android converts the best so I split my camp between carrier and wifi
That's it for now, I'm in real hurry right now, will post a detailed updated tomorrow
Long time no hear!
Just to know, I was working, but didn't really had time to update thread and honestly didn't have anything smart to write. I will update this thread daily, and will post what I did each day and my plans for tomorrow, because in theory I know how to optimize a camp, just need to test different approaches and come up with my own to even get in position to optimize. I've invested both time and money in this journey and I have no plan of giving up.
In fact I'm going to AWA this year in BKK, and will stay there for one month, so if someone want to meet there, feel free to PM me.
My camps so far:
Antivirus
Brazil: I've started first on Popads with some ripped angles and lot's of offers (in fact all I could find in my networks) Two of them stood out (have more than 1 conversion - in fact only offers which had conversion). So after found those offers, I've started a survey on pops regarding peoples fears online, do they feel protected and so. Based on survey result I've come up with 5 different angles. I've created a copy and create 5 versions of best page (previously tested). Today I started it on pops (popup vs popunder) and on dislpay (5 exchanges x 3 carriers = 15 camps). On popads I've set throttle to reduce spending by 50% because other-way my $20 budget per day (0.8 payout) would go in few hours.
Sweeps in BR
Iphone 6
- payout: $0.08
With little LP tweaks I've managed to get to -40% ROI (I didn't cut anythi ng except really bad placements which spend 5-10 times payout and didn't convert) I'm runing it on pops with lowest possible bid (tested staggered bids). I've tested all offers I could find, so only option I see is keep tweaking lander and cutting bad segments until I become green or find some green combo.
Samsung s6
Same story as camp above. Low payout - lowest bid possible.
TH Sweeps
Got some conversions, -80% overall ROI, didn't have time to analyze anything, once I check it again will update.
ID Sweeps
I've got -20% right of the bat so it definitely got some potential. Only thing that bothers me is payout - 0.04. Is it even worth running this kind of offer?
What I did today:
1. Run AV camps in Brazil on pops and display
2. Came up with angles for Iphone sweeps in Brazil (I ordered a marketing research on fiverr)
3. Trained up assistant (it is truly helpful when someone finish low level tasks for you)
4. Found AV offers for TR, PL and IT. Goal is to test these GEO with recommended offers with ripped landers and concentrate on best performing one.
Plan for tomorrow:
1. Find offers and GEOs for more sweeps campaigns. Will try same approach as for antivirus - ask my AM for best GEO for this offer, and best offers, rip some landers, and focus only on winner
2. See what can I improve in my TH and ID camp.
Thanks for reading, stay tuned
Once again, if someone is coming to AWA, pm me
Goin to AWA is a good idea, definitely try to connect with some people from your area, I know we have several members from the Balkans. Sometimes all it takes is a small push from someone
I'm not sure what to say about these 0.04 - 0.08 payout offers... I'm all for testing low payout offers, but 0.04 is a bit too low in my opinion, you would need to send 1000s of leads to actually make some dough with this. The lowest payout I ever got profitable with was 7 or 8 cents and the volume was nothing special either. But you never know until you try, right? Indonesia is a very large GEO, so there should be no shortage of traffic.
That iPHONE offer in BR looks like it could have some promise too, -40% just by cutting the worst placements, that could work out eventually, BR is another huge GEO with plenty of volume.
As you said yourself, you know the theory by now, so it's all about finding the right GEO and Offers ... plus LPs obviously. So keep on testing, that's the best advice I can give you, really
Updates 24/11
I've started two new antivirus camps with different testing approaches:
1. One camp setup is following: 6 offers x one page (rip one of most used lander on adplexity)
- 3 of offers converted twice, with ROI -20% to - 50%, so next step is bring more landers and try to find best offer and lander type combination.
- once I found that I'll come up with my own angles, and when found best, tweak lander (design, scripts, etc.)
- test more offers (not just AM recomended)
- I wanted to cut placements but there is not single placement which spent payout of offer
- I cut category which is biggest spender and spend 6 payouts with no conversion.
2. Other camp setup is like: 6 landers and one AM recommended offer
- I'm targeting only one carrier (offer criteria) so volume is not that big, but after I increased bid traffic came in and I've got my first conversion
- will let it run it's and then will see what will happen
- goal is to find best 1-3 lander and then test other offers with those landers.
Sweep campaigns:
- I've come with my own angles for BR sweep and just started a test and will see which one will win.
- I've contacted some AM and they told me they will try to provide me BR sweep offers so hopefully I'll have 2 new offers to test tomorrow.
- I've stoped IN sweep. Although initial ROI is not bad (-20%) I'll stop this camp for now, because I'm short on time due to AWA preparation and it's better to focus on other camps than this $0.04.
- I've decided to run traffic for TH camp a little more because I don't have statistical significant data.
- Will run new Antivirus camp and test following setup: 3 offers x 3 landers
Allright so after AWA I've got all my camps back
Campaign 1 - sweep:
I've added new offers in rotation hopefully to beat the previous one. Also I've come up with 5 angles and just change a copy on winner lander (one copy for each lander) and will see how will it perform. So far, there is not much conversion as it was before but maybe that's due to the different time zone I'm in now (I'm still in BKK). Hopefully tomorrow will be good.
Question: If I found working angle in one GEO, should I use that angle in other GEOs, or test angles for every GEO separately?
Campaign 2 - antivirus:
After initial test, I've found only 2 converting offers, and now I'm testing those 2 offers with 5 landers (ripped and modified them a bit) and hopefully will find best offer+lander combo
Campaign 3 - antivirus
In this campaign for initial test, I've tested only one offer but on 5 landers. 2 landers stood out, and now I'm testing 5 offers on those 2 landers. and will see how will it perform
Campaign 4 - sweep
Tested few offers with one lander, found 2 working ones, and now testing it with 3 landers (3 completely different, modified lander)
Next steps:
1. Create more camps (whatsapp pins and would like to try apps, video pins)
2. Test more approaches when it comes to initial testing.
Thanks for following up
It;s me again
So I've listened to your advice and that definitely speed up my testing because I just translate creatives from other GEO, and I'm good to go
I've been runinglots of test recently (done more in 10 days in BKK than 2 months in Belgrade), so I'll point out just the most interesting ones
Campaign 1 - Sweep in BR
It's cool campaign although I;m not green yet for following reasons: payout is really small (0.12) so conversions are coming in really fast; BR has a lots of traffic and even though I'm bidding minimum (other way can't get profitable) I have lots of traffic so testing can be done really fast (one round per day) and you can see how changes you've made affect on campaign. It really helped me to better understand optimization proces and altough I have -14% ROI actuall loss is really small, it;s just few buck per round of testing. And I think I can get it profitable after one more round of improving, because so far I've been only improving my lander and testing more offers, no cutting has been performed. I think it would be smart for everyone who starts out to find some GEO with lots of traffic and some really low payout SOI offer where quality of leads is not that important (like this one) and run it despite being red because it will help them to better understand LP tweaks and optimization process
Campaign 2 - PIN submit in GEO 1 (sorry for not revealing the GEO
)
It's higher payout offer ($11) and conversions are not coming really fast, but I've assigned large budget for this testing and after a 2 or 3 days I had initial results. I've been testing few offers with one lander and found best offer, then found best lander, and now, I'm testing some angles. So far had one green combo, still no cutting anything just testing offers and landers.
Campaign 3 - Pin sumbit in GEO 2
I've found two converting carriers for these and have already some green offer+lander combos, but I still continue to test more recommended offers and some LP tweaks and new angles. Also trying to get some cool white hat angles for promoting these offers, and will test it soon, once I found best offer.
Also planing to ask my AMs about more pin submits (not just the ones I'm running now) because those carriers converts good (so far better than anything I've tested) and try to milk it before it;s too late
Also have some other camps, but I will keep them aside for now, because those 3 camps are my priority
When I finish everything I need to do with them, I;ll go with those other camps.
And my main goal for the rest of the year is - get back on display I'll test every good offer on display, and already been asking my AMs about which of recommended offer is doing good on display
As always I have some questions
1. Main problem so far is that when I start new campaign or new test, conversions are not coming as fast as I would like. I would rather spend $300 and get like 15 conversion in one day, than spend $100 and get it in 3 days
what should I do in order to achieve that, increase bid, freq cap? Also I've checked data from my past camps and notice that placements of quality 1 and 2 not necessarily converts the worst so I'm confused now, should I stop them when testing something new, or not?
2. When it's right time to create white-list campaign, after how many round of optimization?
3. And when should I start cutting Categories and do you have any rule of thumb for this?
So far I'm avoiding to cut them as you've said. Also should I cut devices with worst ROI?
4. What do you think of this method: Like I've said I plan to test different type of pins on that GEO/carrier combo. I was thinking about doing it under same campaign (because payouts are really similar, targeting are the same, and I wont be competing against myself) and then in volume create path for each type, ie. Path 1: 5 av landers and 5 av offers, path 2 : 3 WA landers 1 WA offer, Path 3: game offers and so on...
Today was my first day ever to be green overall for all camps I've been running
It was $10 profit, but eventually got to $1, but hey, it's something
On the other hand one camp was $10 profit constantly, and I'm still split testing 2 offers and 2 landers, and have more offers and lander variations still to test. So should I create new campaign for testing, and leave the current one as it is, or just keep testing all in one campaign?
