Conversion rate factors

Hi,

I am promoting a skin offer. There is one traffic source where only 3 advertisers including me are promoting our offers. Currently i am getting a conversion rate of 6% - 8% which is keeping me at breakeven or at few dollars loss or profit. And one of the advertiser is able to get 13% conversion rate for his offers and he is making good profits. Most of his offers are private offers which i can't find them in any network. I am a little lost here. Though we all use same landers and ads. When it comes to offers, he is getting good conversion rates.

Even though, his offer page is similar to my offer page except the product image and the URL everything looks exact same. I really don't understand what factors are playing an important role in bringing his offers good conversion rate and mine lags behind.

Any help would be greatly helpful to me.

How do you know your competitors conversion rates?

My AM at that traffic source tells me this info.

What traffic source?

Since there are only 3 advertisers in it, i don't think i can share that info with you.

You don't have to be specific. Social, native, display?

Also, consider the fact that your AM might just be bullshitting you.

Sounds like its in the offers then, if all is the same just the offers differ, it should be the reason for the different CVR.

Or its luke thuglife told you, the AM might not be telling the truth

Maybe difference in targeting?

Also check loading times and redirect times. If your pages are loading in 4 sec and his are loading in 40ms, that could well explain the difference.

Check if he's using rel=prefetch or rel=prerender on his pages. If the offer loads slowly, that could explain the difference.

The loading times would have to be pretty extreme, though. If there's only a 200ms difference between you, it's something else, not load times.

Pretty much what the folks above said. Also, it could be that they have their own list of users they are targeting. Sometimes that increases your CR significantly.

Yup, depends on the traffic source a lot.

From what you have said, it sounds like some fully managed source, right? In that case the AM should be able to compare the targeting and creatives used... is it the case?

Hi,

Yes it is a managed display network. I haven't checked the load times, but will check now. And regarding the targeting, i have the same exact targeting. Some times my ad show up first and sometime his ad show up first. The only difference i see so far is, all of his offers are new and can't find any reviews on his products. So, i am going to try with a new offer and will see if anything changes or not. Thanks for your insights.
