Mobile Landers - Set-up?

Hi everyone!

I got a question about mobile lander setup. Do I just need to get a VPS (Siteground, ex.). I know RackSpace was recommended in the On-Boarding but it seems more complicated then a VPS at Siteground to set-up. I contacted RackSpace and the sales guy wasn't very helpful. And does the VPS company have to have multiple server locations world-wide in case I'm targeting different geos? What am I missing here?

And to create multiple mobile landing pages. Do I just use Adobe Muse templates and host each one on the VPS? Or do I need to get a Worpdress set-up and just add multiple Pages for each lander?

Thanks!

Looks like you are pretty confused

There's lot of this covered on the forums. For setting up a Rackspace CDN I would refer you to this post by @iamattila: http://iamattila.com/media-buying-10...ding-pages.php.

Just to answer your question - how the CDN works is that it distributes your LP through their nodes around the world, so depending from where your user will come to your LP, it will be loaded from the most close node.

That's why it's much faster.

If you are just starting out, I would start with ripping landers and trying to understand why they work or doesn't work. Do not use Adobe Muse or some other software that autogenerates code. It will slow down your performance. Also forget about Wordpress in this case.

lol ya, definitely confused. Embarrassing being a noob. lol

Yeah. I read all the Newbie articles and guides. Just things that I still don't get, trying to figure out.

So you can't host dynamic files on a CDN. Like GIFs / animations? - Only images / text?

So do I need to buy 1 domain name for each lander? After I create a container and select Static Website. How do I see a live version of the mobile lander that I created?

Thanks again!

Oh and if I just do direct linking, I don't need a tracker like Voluum? The traffic source and the affiliate network would provide all my data instead?

1) You can host jpg, gif, png even mp3 or video - by dynamic they mostly refer to server side programming languages such as PHP, Python, Ruby etc. You can however host .html, .js files which are run on user side - ie. they go fall under the "static" category.

2) You can host any amount of landers under 1 domain, there is no limitation - just use folders to do that

3) Tracker is a must in what ever scheme (direct link, landers) to track your costs and performance, otherwise you will just flush money down the toilet.

I see Erik took good care of you, thanks buddy

There is one thing you didnt get answer for : How do I see a live version of the mobile lander that I created?

- There is a "settings" icon on the left, next to the file you just uploaded, click it - then "View all links" and pick the first one "HTTP" - thats the link to the LP.

Does it matter what domain name I use? the name and/or extension (.com or other)? Since when they click on the lander it will show the domain name and tracking id (from tracking software)?

Domains dont matter that much in mobile, mobile browsers dont display the full url as desktop browsers do, so the long urls are not a problem on mobile. Im even running landers on CDN without a domain so the url looks prety weird and people dont seem to mind. These long domains or weird URLs DO matter when you're aer using a system entry/exit alert as the small alert pop window does contain the url and it looks weird.

- A good domain can have a small positive effect, I've found regional domains to do a bit better, so if you're targeting Spain for example, it might be a good idea to put the word "spain" in the domain.

- A bad domain can have a negative effect - there is a case studdy on this forum, domain with the word "fraud or scam" had a negative effect on conversions. This was a pretty extreme example tho.

As for the tracking urls - people usually dont even notice them as those are just redirect, the LP or Offer is on a different URL.
