Ad Network vs Affiliate Network

Hello all!

What is the difference between an AD Network (like a mobile ad network) since I am getting into mobile vs. an Affiliate Network?

Thanks in advance!
Daniel

AD network is the same as Traffic Network or Traffic Source - so the place where you can buy traffic from.

Affiliate Network is where you get offers to promote from.

One sells you traffic (Ad network), the other one lets you make money from it (aff network).

Matuloo,

Ah I see. That clear things up. So, Go2mobi would be a Ad Network since it connects to different exchanges which provide traffic?

For AD Networks, you deposit money to run campaigns. How do Affiliate Networks make money from me? And do the aff networks pay me for successful campaigns?

THanks!

Go2mobi is an Ad Network yes, but a specific type called : mDSP - Mobile Demand Side Platform. They dont have their own publishers (websites) but rather serve as the middle man to give you access to large traffic exchanges. You could compare it to brokers on stock exchanges for example. You setup a campaign with them (g2m), define the targeting and they send the requirements to a particular traffic exchange, if there is a match and you bid high enough to win that impressions, it is yours

Affiliate networks take a share from the payout. Lets say you push a dating offer that pays $5 per lead. The actual advertiser pays maybe $5.5-6 to them, so the difference is their profit. Affiliate networks are "brokers" again, they have offers from a large number of advertisers and present them to you in one place so you dont have to work with a 100 of advertisers on your own. For this service, they charge the commission. Aff networks dont pay you for successful campaigns, they pay you for a specified action - email submit, SOI, DOI leagden, PIN submit, CC submit etc ... they dont care whether its a successful campaign for you or not, thats your job.

It sounds like you're new to affiliate marketing! I would highly recommend that you start here:

http://stmforum.com/forum/forumdispl...he-Newbie-Zone

Read and digest everything in the "Onboarding Zone" and "Getting Started In Affiliate Marketing - 2016 Edition" sections first. Then venture to some of the other subforums to get an idea on what types of traffic there are, and then pick one that interests you and set up your first campaign and go from there!

You'll notice that in the "Traffic Sources" section, inside some of the subforums, there are "follow-along" sections. A great thing to do as part of your learning experience, is to start your own "follow-along" thread where you document your campaign, to get feedback and suggestions from the community. Many new members have arrived at their first profitable campaigns this way.

Have fun reading! But don't fall into the trap of perpetually reading and not taking action - because you can only learn so much by reading, and without taking action everything you read will just blur together after a while.
