Solar is cranking!
Just giving a heads up on a vertical to get into that's long lasting and not scammy in anyway.
We have a really strong pay per call offer at HyperTarget covering 12 states with a high payout. If you're doing solar and want to learn more or want to get into solar, PM me.

I was at a blackjack table a few months ago and ran into an electrician. He said to me his only gig now is going around installing solar panels/setting it up for people. Could be a good combo for traffic.

I was browsing through CB offers, watched a sales vid and literally had this idea burning in the back of my mind. If this affiliate marketing can't keep my lights on this will be my fallback. semi serious.

Is solar really that profitable as an affiliate? I would consider myself semi successful as an aff but when I tested solar I lost a shit ton of money very quickly within a few days and there wasn't much data to work with at the end of to keep going. It seems like the only way to make it work would be to own that offer or selling the leads directly to buyers. It's the only campaign to this day that I gave up on, threw in the towel and faced the loss.

Ask your affiliate manager to gather some targeting information. For example if this solar campaign is USA GEO then i would ask what states/ZIP convert the best so you know where to target and any other targeting tips that the merchant can provide that network.
Hope this helps
And yes Solar does well!

Those sites look awesome. I would say, from a pay per call perspective, the hardest thing about Solar is the caller's initial confusion. There's a lack of urgency that lends to good conversion rates for things like plumbing, electricians, tow trucks, etc. The benefit usually takes a few years (at least) from a financial standpoint. The people I've seen make it work best are those that can educate a potential caller quickly and emphasize multiple benefits - better for the environment, your home value, etc. Every time I go to conventions, I hear TONS of solar talk so it's definitely not going away!

This is a good bit of info for guys trying to make solar work. I've had in excess of 3-4K a day in revenue on solar calls and the hardest part is indeed generating urgency. Typically what has worked for me is overloading them on benefits and making the caller feel like an outcast as "everyone else is doing it".

That's a really good idea. People hate the feeling of being left behind/in the dust. Nice one!

It truly is and its a vertical that keeps growing.
You have to take into account some of the points mentioned in this thread being the lack of urgency a very important one.
Unlike something like locksmith where the urgency is real and you can get away with relatively generic short ads here you need to do more selling.
If the campaign is too generic it might just linger in the prospect mind but they won't pull the trigger.
Sell the benefits HARD, what are you selling? Energy? NO.
We are selling savings.
Stress 1 - The reduce energy bill and what that extra $ might mean to their family
2- How the industry is growing and more and more people are getting in, dont want to feel like a fool paying too much on your bill right? People want to be part of the IN crowed. Solar is trendy. Use some social proof (X amount of people in Y State have converted to Solar, or Z famous figuere is all in on Solar, talking to you Elon)
Its very important to push the CTA, the user should not forget what he should do to not miss out and its CALL. You will be surprised how a prominent Call to Action can change a campaign.
Another point is focusing on states that convert. Like anything if its converting for other there is a chance you can make it work too.
Solar is shining. Feel free to PM us.
Best,
V

Solar is an amazing vertical, even in small markets it works great.
We have solar offers in Australia and Belgium making surprisingly big numbers. Great eCPC!

Solar is cranking!
Solar in the north east / new england works well since its a very alluring product that isnt well known here. I see publishers do very well on search in these areas by being more informative than "pitchy" or trying to push on low prices etc
