Got banned from my Affiliate Network 2 days into my first campaign, what did I do?

Hi Stackers,

I hope someone can shed some light as to how this could've happened. I was following the Mobile Cookbook and ran my first campaign with Go2Mobi as my traffic source. My banners were approved by both the network and Go2Mobi and things were humming right along. 2 days later, I get an email from my Aff Network telling me that I have been banned. In the email it stated that the earnings I generated were using unapproved means of advertising and/or from fraudulent activity. This was a surprise to me because I don't know what I could of done fraudulently and my campaigns were approved. I contacted my AM and he told me to email the compliance team, which I did and have not heard back from them in 2 weeks. Has anybody run into this before? Was I supposed to do something in Go2Mobi? While it sucks, I want to use this as a learning opportunity so I don't make a similar mistake in the future.

Thanks!

Hello,

your case is most likely the result of collateral damage so to speak. I guess you were unlucky enough to buy a lot of bots, the aff network took a look at the traffic and since there was a high % of fake hits, they thought you were up to some suspicious activity. Sometimes its also a problem of the country you come from... etc. Simply put, you could be the victim of too-strict account screening.

Then again, maybe you did something against the rules - since the banners were approved, didnt you use uncompliant LPs?

Hi Matuloo,

Thanks for the response. I was not running any LP's the offer was direct linking to the Google Play Store. Is there a way to screen out buying bots?

So a direct link from banner to the google play store? And the banner was approved by the aff network and they still banned you? Sounds weird to me

Did you follow their targeting requirements? So sending android and not iOS, not sending adult traffic etc ...

Here is a thread you might start with to learn about BOT detection : http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...Your-Campaigns

Yes, I made sure to target Android only, but I may have sent adult traffic now that I'm looking at my campaign... So in the future just blacklist it right? Thanks a lot for the help, it is much appreciated.

Im not sure what actually happened in your case, but yes, adult traffic usually isnt the best match for direct linked app installs, people who are doing it are cloacking. Always check the rules of an offer to stay out of trouble.
