JumpTap screwing around with my campaigns (31)

JumpTap screwing around with my campaigns

This is the second time this has happened...

I would launch a campaign, pause it, set the budget to $10 and set up my desired targeting.

I go to bed...

I wake up, the campaign is active, all my targeting is gone and my budget was changed to $200 - with $242 spent

Any advice on dealing with this?

Anyone have a contact there on a more senior level - my AM seems completely incompetent.

Who's your AM just for fun? You can PM it to me!

Talk to Mark Menery.

Dude... I had the same thing... had it set up for a $10 spending limit each campaign (2)... woke up to find $200 spent. Same AM as well!

09-27-2011 11:38 AM #7 deondup (Member)

...I'm getting him on the phone tomorrow. Its BS. Overspending by a few bucks is normal. By $200...just a rip off. I am sure that is not how JumpTap would like to do business.

You have to rely on your AM a lot though so I'll be as diplomatic as possible. If I'm not satisfied with his response I'll go up the chain.

So bloody frustrating!!!

09-27-2011 04:24 PM #8 Daksneezian (Member)

I had the same thing, also they "auto optimized" it to cover all phones and carriers, and automatically set my card to charge.

An email to the ceo with a cc to my manager fixed it with a refund very quick.

WTF. That is some bullshit. Threaten to sue!

09-28-2011 07:45 AM #10 lavish (Member)

Deon - any news with how you went? I emailed the AM yesterday and didn't get a response back which is strange since he is usually on the ball. I also don't like Daksneezian's response. If this is something that is usual for Jumptap, then I don't feel comfortable conducting business with them. I literally thought that the first time this happened was a mistake on my part for not understanding the interface correctly, but for it to happen a second time when I know I had it set up properly and for it to happen to multiple people is pretty damn shady.

09-28-2011 08:09 AM #11 deondup (Member)

The response I got back was laughable. This guy is bullshitting me. He told me that the bogus carriers in my report was actually part of the "Tmobile umbrella"...I then pointed out that the problem was that all my targeting was stripped and that Tmobile was not even targeted. I did not hear from him again.

I think they take the piss out of new advertisers. It seems like a lot of the problems are coming from this one AM.

Maybe we can get someone from JumpTap in this forum?

I am sure they would not want to do business like this. I've lost about $500 in bogus traffic this week due to paused campaigns switching themselves on, targeting disappearing and budgets being changed by itself (and overspending)

09-28-2011 08:37 AM #12 lavish (Member)

That is absolute bullshit. You got hit even worse then me. I haven't even checked the targeting - I'm going to have a look at my log and see where the traffic was coming from, since I had selected only a few carriers. I don't understand the ploy. We're testing to see if we can get something to hit and then obviously once we do find something that works, we'd be more then happy to spend a larger budget per day.

You're right, I don't think Jumptap would WANT to do business like this (well, let's hope not) and I would never feel comfortable spending $1k+/day on a tight ROI if they willingly just change your campaign details/budget to suit there needs. In the meantime I'm going to take my business elsewhere and hopefully we could get a Jumptap rep or someone else to give a suitable answer for this problem.

Yeah something really odd happened with my traffic this week too. I spent $50, made $110 for one test. Then the next day I spent $200, and made $0. Didn't make sense for me...will check logs.

If anyone has someone from jumptap that would like to front on the forums, hit me up, ill get them set up.

09-28-2011 01:16 PM #14 lavish (Member)

Well I just got an email...

They told me my targeting was too broad and my bids were high relative to that targeting and the daily cap. I won't be charged for the discrepancy (only up to 5% of my cap).

09-28-2011 02:59 PM #15 shoent (Member)

yes something is def. funny going on with jumptap, first test made like 75 with out optmizing, then on next run after optmizing spent about 200 and got 0 leads, yes thats right ZERO leads.

You guys getting overcharged... did it actually permanently affect your ad balance?

If I set my daily budget the first day to something low, say $20, I will almost always be charged $80-$100. First time it happened I couldn't believe it. I looked into it and found some FAQ or article that said this is normal but it doesn't actually affect my deposit balance, which it didn't.

It even said in that article "yes, that means you're getting free clicks "

I think they had a happy face in there. I can't find the article right now, but there ya go... such a generous group over there :P

09-28-2011 06:24 PM #17 Daksneezian (Member)

For me it did, until I got the refund. I think there was a day when they sent a small amount of "free" clicks, but yes I was charged. I believe the only refund they gave was a "credit".

09-28-2011 06:50 PM #18 theguvna ()

^^^^ scandalous! I'm putting a new one up today, will report back on any sketchiness.

Hope these guys don't go to shit, they were decent.

No issues over here.

09-30-2011 02:30 AM #20 shoent (Member)

anybody having issues with jumptap still, im having a 75% click discrpency today, jumptap is charging me for 75% more clicks then what went to the offer, i am not running prosper or cpvlab its going straight to the offer url.

09-30-2011 03:01 AM #21 shoent (Member)

can somebody pm me the name or skype info for somebody higher up at jumptap, would really appreciate it, need a damn new AM there.

09-30-2011 05:23 AM #22 theguvna ()

200 clicks in JT, 194 in CPVLab, 69 at Neverblue... that was for me today.

I am removing the CPVLab tracking tomorrow to see the difference that makes, if any.

When you guys are tracking via CPVLab for mobile, are you using the double meta refresh or just going direct in your settings?

09-30-2011 07:15 AM #23 shhhant (Senior Member)

51 clicks in JT for me, 28 in NB for me.

09-30-2011 12:00 PM #24 deondup (Member)

I don't use my own tracking anymore. Link directly with Neverblue links.

Seeing between 30 - 50% link discrepancy depending on the targeting.

NB
There are some good threads about this so lets not talk more about click discrepancy (please) - its just part of it.

09-30-2011 05:28 PM #25 shoent (Member)

ya from what i hear from my am at jumptap, if you target wifi then you going to get alot of intl traffic coming in and about a 30% click discrepency is the industry norm.

I don't use the feature that automatically hits your credit card when your balance is low, but on my JT account it somehow magically turned on this week and loaded $200 into my JT account. I was going to use it anyway so I didn't make an issue of it, but there is some strangeness going on. I have the same AM as earlier in the thread.

As far as hit and miss conversions, I have noted that a lot of my conversions come from the same group of publishers, and when things aren't converting I seem to be getting traffic from different publishers. I broke out a campaign where I had the AM whitelist a single publisher and it did pretty well for a while.

If you have Saad as an AM watch out because he'll turn on your campaigns and up daily budgets without you knowing. I had an old campaign turned on and about $120 lost in traffic sent to an expired tracking link.

After emailing him I got this reply:

"Hey Justin – looks like this was a tech issue from yesterday but it appears that the issue is resolved.. Apologies for this. Will let you know when I have a little more information."

Apparently it was a "tech issue" that my old campaign's budget doubled and went live without me knowing.

10-28-2011 03:00 AM #28 Daksneezian (Member)

Funny that's my am there as well and mine was a tech issue as well...

10-28-2011 03:01 AM #29 Daksneezian (Member)

Shoent and all just email their CEO

11-02-2011 04:02 AM #30 rafael (Member)

I've seen the same thing and I also have Saad as an AM.
I set a $10 daily budget for my first three days of testing and suddenly I was hit with $40 for just one day.

Saad replied and said that they were overages due to the low daily cap and that I would not be charged.I still see the charges on my account.

This is starting to smell funny.
