As someone who has been working from home for almost ten years, I wanna get out of my comfort zone and set up a physical office, hire a bunch people, and work with them from the same office. I'm really getting tired of using odesk, dealing with VA's online.
I know a bunch of affiliates are living in Bangkok but I never seen people talking about setting up offices there.
Manila is what in my mind at the moment - cheap salary, top-notch loyalty, english as their first language, etc. However the last time I visited there a couple of years ago, I didn't feel quite safe there.
I'd love to hear your stories or options, any input is much appreciated.
I'm also creating a poll, please feel free to cast your vote
Kuala Lumpur.
Salary is relatively cheap due to the weakened currency, most people speak English and if you stay in the safe area you'll be safe.
You can get pretty good talent for $1k/mo, can probably do your media buying etc. For data entry stuff, $500/mo.
I'd thought about setting up in the PH but you're right, it's sketchy AF.
Bangkok would be a good option too, if only they spoke English.
I'm involved with offices in both Manila and Bangkok. In Manila it seems as though it's a lot easier to find talent as compared to BKK. For STM we have a team in Manila that is absolutely killing it in terms of productivity and high quality output.
Yes, the STM Manilla team are amazing.
I know a few other folk with Manilla offices too and generally they all seem to have had very positive experiences. Can't speak to how safe the country is, though - I know there are huge corruption problems.
If you're primarily an English speaker, the level of English there alone makes a big difference.
Buddy you can try singapore also..
Its safe and only 17% tax.
