How to monetize emails/email submits?

Hey guys,

how would you or how do the big advertisers monetize email lists?

I'm not talking about all the sweepstake offers, I'm talking about email offers like fileforgrants.com etc.

What do I have to know when I want to start an offer like this?

Thanks, appreciate your feedback!

Hello!
I think they sending some spam of different offers. I also know that some of the big companies buy such bases.

Knowing how to properly monetize an email list is pure gold, and obviously, nobody will hand this to you on a plate

I will tell this to you in a really "simplified" way.

You basically monetize on 2 basic levels : there is a core product and upsells.

1. The core product is something you actually made them signup for, so in your example it will be some kind of grant and there will be a commision involved - if they get approved, you get a commision. This is what you have to work on first. So think about contact with govt agencies or companies who take care of the paper work for grants and are willing to share their comision with you. To give you a different example - dating sites - in this case, the core product is actually paid membership to the dating site. You need to have this initial monetization step really nailed down as it will have direct impact on your initial loss.

2. The upsells can be whatever is even remotely related to the subject, you should find out as much about your leads as possible, so you can target them properly. The leads in your example would have to tell you more about what they need the grant for and you can find products that correlate with the niche. If nothing works, you can still sell their emails to third parties or try to coreg them to related email lists.

This is it in a really simple way, there is way more to it but this is the core.

mrbraun: Big companies buy the email addresses? Or what do you mean?

To add to the answers already - it very much depends on what sort of email list you're talking about.

For example, if you have an email list full of people who desperately want solutions to virus problems on their phones, and are expecting to get information from you about solutions to that problem, then sending them info on the latest antivirus products (which happen to all be affiliate links) is an excellent way to monetise

However, if you have a more random or "colder" (less familiar with you and what you'll be emailing about) list then monetising is harder. Often an untargeted list of a million emails will be harder to monetise than a targeted list of 10,000.

If you want more info on list building, we have quite a few real experts on STM. Check out everything that John Alanis and _mcr_ have written on email, for starters.

The key phrase to remember in email marketing is that 'The money is in the list'...What is important is to build your list on your own along with single opt-ins and to maintain a good relationship with it by sending them information or offers related to your product from time to time..This is the only way you will be able to convert potential clients.
