Pop Lander Tip - Increase CTR by 200%+

I've been MIA from the forums for the past 1.5 days because one of my best buddies was in town and we got to spend some quality time together.

He's a real pro when it comes to coding landers. That's where his passion lies. Money isn't a major motivator for him. Using just one of his lander tricks, he was able to reach high 4-figures with pop traffic recently and he's a lazy marketer. If he would put in the time to scale he'd be doing 5 figures/day easy. But he prefers to spend his time on conquering new verticals and traffic sources instead of milking profitable campaigns. Each to his own I guess.

One of the biggest lander tips I've learned from him is this:

Figure out how to grab the visitor's attention first!

I know this doesn't sound like the gold nugget that it is, but think about it - pop is interruption advertising. Visitors are all doing other stuff like browsing a website or wanting to read an article or clicking to watch a vid - and our ad pops up. Most people would instinctively either click the backbutton or close button or otherwise try to get rid of the ad, without even bothering to say "wtf?"

And if we can't even capture their attention in the first place, then even the best ad copy will not do us any good, cause it won't get read.

Here are some tricks for grabbing attention (these are a combination of his suggestions and my own experience):

-Use a theme people recognize that will either make them feel trust because they're familiar with the look-and-feel, or make them feel afraid because it's associated with something going wrong. Examples of the former: Facebook/Whatsapp/Google themes. Examples of the latter: System message look-alikes. Disclaimer: I'm just listing some possibilities here - not recommending for you to implement these or not - please check the legalities and offer requirements and traffic source requirements before implementing these tricks.

-Use an image that would invoke emotion - either positive (e.g. excitement/hope) or negative (e.g. fear).

-Use attention-grabbing words in a big-enough font (this is why the headline is so important).

-Use coding tricks to keep the visitor from clicking away from our lander. (I'm not a coding expert - but you could get really creative here!) Make sure this doesn't go against any offer / traffic source rules though.

-Figure out a way to show our lander to the visitor more than once. Again you can get creative here. Example: Make your lander spawn an additional popunder. Again - please make sure the offer / traffic source allow this, or do so at your own risk.

In short, you need to "jolt" the visitor from what they were doing, to giving their attention to your lander. Only after you can grab their attention successfully, will the rest of your lander be able to do their selling.

So - get testing! And of course never forget to check page load times before going live with a lander.
