Its a lovely city. I spent a summer there while at uni (thank you Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst).

There are lots of great parks, and in a few weeks, the Spring Festival should start which can be a lot of fun. If you are into cars, that is where Mercedes Benz and Porsche are located and both have good museums.

It is also a good place to also use as a base for exploring the Black Forest as well as Heidelberg.
