You do not want to mess with any government agency ... especially the SEC!

True but my country has a pretty good relationship with the US government. I don't have a clue what they can do. I was doing quite a lot of volume.. I should have used fake info everywhere..

There are some countries whose laws and regulatory agencies you should NOT mess with.

The US is at the very top of this list.

I would just drop that vertical man, if you even want to name it a vertical.
To me it's similar to those cryptolocker viruses. Last time i read some of the guys doing that were being looked for by interpol.

Can you upload the mp3 file to soundcloud/youtube and embed it here? Might be entertaining.

SEC is responsible for regulating the financial markets...

Why would they care about a tech support call?

Oh noes, maybe you are capturing the user in her own browsers and they can even close it, plus you have that computer generated voice telling them they have a virus and they must call tech support now.

That sure scares the heck out of a normal user and they don't have a choice but either, call the number or hard-reboot their computers (which eventually would lead to HDD/SSD damage).

About the fake info, I guess that doesn't matter for those agencies, nobody is anonymous enough :P

My advice is... start praying!

j/k

Yes, unless you are also running a pump-and-dump scheme a la Jordan Belfort, I really wouln't worry about it. FTC is the one who shafts people for this. 90% chance its some nerd fucking around.

I have ran tech support in the past, so I know what you are going through. If you are really worried, buy the domain and hosting anonymously with bitcoin
and put all fake info and get whoisgaurd on top. Namecheap sells domains via bitcoin and Im sure you can find some anonymous hosting if you look hard enough (hint:dark web). If you only work with Indian call centers, it would be hard for the government to convince them to rat you out.

In the end, all this was too much for me so I switched to a safer vertical....but if you are set on doing it there are ways of doing it safely.

LOL you corrupt the hard drive of an SEC commissioner, they will be coming after your ass until the ends of the earth!

There are plenty of legitimate ways to make money. No need to resort to stuff like this.

Outside of affiliate marketing? What do you mean?

People still running tech support without hiding their stuff?? It's like asking for trouble.
Get domains with btc, get hosting with btc, access everything through secure proxies.

You always have a choice, you can either flat out fuck people over (tech support), you can sell questionable stuff (dating with minimum % of real users), you can sell overpriced stuff (content billing offers), you can sell placebo (some nutra), you can put peoples health at danger (some nutra), you can sell legit stuff (teespring ...) ... the choice is yours. Obviously, offers with the highest % of "fuck over" factor are the easiests to produce positive ROI, but those also produce sleepless nights to people like the one who started this thread

As for the threads topic : Im pretty sure its someone making fun of you, or an angry "customer", authorities wouldnt call and warn, they would act.

Out of those I'd only consider Teespring a "...legitimate ways to make money."

There's plenty of legitimate ways to lose money though.

Did you ever buy any homeopathics, vitamin supplements etc ... those are useless products from a large part, but nobody questions the legitimacy of such business. - NUTRA
Ever bought a car? Do you know whats the production cost? Its waaay lower than what you pay at the dealer, marketing and sales people inflate the prices - CONTENT BILLING

I could go on and on - insurance and other financial products, junk food thats bad for your health but people still pay premium rates for it in some countries (mcdonald), cigaretes, alcohol ... all overpriced and often dangerous shit that people buy willingly and nobody thinks its not a legitimate way of making money. These all have one thing in common tho, customers are lured into buying them with clever marketing, not forced as is the case with tech support - and thats the huge difference. We can fish for the less intelligent and make bold claims, thats one thing, but simply scaring the shit out of poor computer users and then pretending we are trying to help them while talking to them on premium phone lines, for as long as possible ... thats a different story in my opinion I think affiliate marketers need to draw a line somewhere.

But I know what you mean of course, I would also love to promote just 100% clean stuff, but its not possible to compete against people who push any shady offer they can get - its not possible to keep up with their high bid prices. Maybe once the internet will clean a bit and we will all be selling just the valuable stuff
