Retargeting FB - Automatic Delay to filter Bounces

Hi,

For our FB Retargeting Cookie we have a delay of 40s till it fires, to filter all bounces and get high quality traffic.

Problem is, while the list we get is highly valuable, its rather small in the end.

How would you test if 40s is a good delay time? Is it advisable to have a delay at all?

Thanks for the help
Cheers

Woah 40s is a long time if you think about people spend 1-2 secs on your site to decide whether to close it or not.

Hi Fbqueen,

thanks a ton for your fast answer - I agree.

Especially since quite a lot of the content is monetized with ads, 40 seconds might be a bit long. What do you recommend?

Cheers

I recommend you implement something like VWO or the like which has heatmaps and time on page tracking, so that you actually know how long people spend on your site on average before clicking things.

I am sure one of these tools somewhere out there actually records this.

Hi Zeno,

thanks a lot. Thats actually a great idea. Sure we have analytics but have no idea, how long it actually takes people to click on ads.

Also the question is, do we actually need the delay or not all. Do you use delay on retargeting or just use conversion pixels? (We dont have conversion pixel, since its mostly ads, and cant embed js on them)

Cheers

Have the conversion pixel fire when they scroll past a certain point
