This belongs in general questions, I feel, it has a little bit to do with the information presented in the "What Software/Hardware/Memberships will I need?"
When it comes to domains, and hosting, and servers and whatnot, I'm a newbie, and quite frankly, a bit lost.
I've purchased a domain name from Namecheap, and bought a hosting service for 6 months with Beyond Hosting (according to the article written here).
I also purchased a wordpress theme that I thought would do nicely for a marketing website. My next few steps that I intended to take was to create an official logo for the marketing agency, and make a website that detailed stuff like what vertical I would focus on, and what traffic source I would focus on.
I can't seem to access cPanel in either Namecheap or Beyond Hosting. I'm also not even 100% sure if that's the correct process to go about, if I want to :
1. Edit my theme to my liking
2. Upload the edited theme onto my website
3. Have my edited theme be the appearance for my website
Does anybody have some input/suggestions/answers for me?
Do I even need to go about the process of making an official website, if I am a newbie just getting started?
Your hosting provider should have given you a link to access your cPanel?
Most hosting has the option of a one-click install of wordpress, normally the easiest way to do it... btw there is no cPanel access in namecheap they are just a domain registrar.
There are countless guides online on setting up wordpress and editing your theme, but if you find these hard to follow you could just head over to fiverr and get someone to install and set it up for you.
One more thing - if the website is just for network approval purposes, go to https://instapage.com/ and make a free company landing page using their WYSIWYG editor - 45 day free trial with no cc needed. Simple
I made a simple website that I feel is enough for network approval. I used Instapage, and it was a smooth process. Thank you for the advice.
I will be applying to networks now.
Good to hear and you're welcome! Best of luck... if you don't get in a network, post here and I'm sure someone can help you you get in or give you the Skype details you need.
