Sweepstakes angle question ?

Hey,

I'm a newbie to AM and reading threat about angle. I'm brainstorm some of the angles but not sure correct or not.

Example:
Offer: Win iPhone 6s

Angle 1: Experiences 3D touch on iphone 6s
Angle 2: Fast performance iphone 6s, etc

Would you consider these as angles ?

Cheers

They are crap. Try some brainstorming technique.. Visualize someone holding an iphone and then write the associations that come to your mind for example:
expensive, has money, cool, gay, fancy, golddiger, brandlover, technically impaired, wants to be seen, flashy, terrorist (wants data encyrpted)

Then from these you can write the angles.

But you are kinda missing the main point here. The primary incentive is sweepstakes - free stuff, the iphone is just the object of the promotion. So your angles should be geared towards the win-earn-sweepstake concept not the iphone per se.

Or option b) which will save you a lot of money, time and nerves. Go to some spy tool, steal the lander and run it.

The "angle theorem" - have a unique angle bla bla.. test angles bla bla... is bullshit. 99% of the angles dont work. The ones that do are running already and you can spy on them and steal them.

-------
The reason why your angles ar not good is that the 3dtouch and fast performance are not the main "desirable" sales points why users get iphones.

Thanks for advise, definitely will do more homework on this, will brainstorm more angle for this offer and what is your recommendation for mobile spy tools ?
Other than spy tools , is there any other way can learn more for angle creation ?

Cheers

Adplexity is pretty much the norm for spying on sweeps.

Regarding learning about angle creation - finch's premium posts explains it very good. It is very biased towards adult dating, however there are nice examples there.

We have an entire forum section on angles:

http://stmforum.com/forum/forumdispl...can-post-here)

For sweeps offers, I agree with what johner911 said - downloading landers from Adplexity will work. If an offer is good and you're testing enough landers, it should convert - whether you'll get it profitable is another issue.

A good strategy would be to use ripped landers to establish some benchmark stats, see what kinds of lander styles work etc. And then to tweak the best style using your own "spin" by rewriting the text or making other changes and testing them.

Put yourself in the visitor's position: You're surfing the net and all of a sudden you're told you've won an iphone. You'll likely dismiss it as a scam.

So as marketers our job is to create a story - a "reason why" - and make it believable.

Popular example: We're [company name] seeking feedback on [the browser/device/model you're using]. If you help us answer survey questions we'll enter you into a draw. Making the visitor perform an action (in this case answering simple questions) makes them feel entitled to a reward - like they've done something to earn a prize. (This angle has been done to death already but is still being used now so my guess is that it still works, but putting a spin on it could make it work better.)

See what excuses you can come up with for giving away free iphones.

@vortex, thanks for your advise. I think i'm start to understand what is angle.
I should focus on how to attract visitor attention to participate on "something" (quize, game, lucky draw, etc) in order to reward a "gift" (an iphone in this case). Previously i was focus more on the "gift" itself. As @johner911 mentioned, it is not the main selling point.

Here are some new angles, please correct me if I'm wrong.
1. Congratulation! You have been randomly selected as our lucky visitor for today! Answer a simple question to get a FREE chance win big prizes.
2. Are you a movie fan? Select your favorite movie to win an iphone.
3. Congratulation! You won (1) spin! Spin your lucky number and have chance to win expensive prizes!

Everybody talk about spy tools. Noticed that there are some spy tool recommended in STM like Adplexity, WRW and Adsxposed. Could you recommend which work well for overall spy? Not mainly on sweepstakes only.

Cheers

Yes the angles you listed are some of the most frequently used ones for sweeps. As for spying on landers, adplexity and adsxposed are both good tools.

Its crucial to understand the angle creation and get good at it if you want to get anywhere in this business. Johner911 is right that you can simply rip the LPs and use the same angles, as these are already tested and will work better than pretty much anything you can come up with at this time.

But the point is, someone had to come up even with those angles that you are about to rip and you can bet, they made more on it than you ever will since they are saturated by now. If we all copy the same, they will stop working soon and the biz will end.

So if you want to move on, you need to at least improve them, give it a new twist or whatever it takes to bring them back to life. These dont need to be big changes but you need to be able to identify the opportunities and jump at them while they are hot.

Lets take the iPhone 6 example. You have your ripped angle : "Congratulation! You have been randomly selected as our lucky visitor for today! Answer a simple question to get a FREE chance win the iPhone6." and its starting to be saturated and dying out.

- Now here comes the iPhone 6S in fall, so you need to imediatelly change the wording to : "Congratulation! You have been randomly selected as our lucky visitor for today! Answer a simple question to get a FREE chance win the all NEW iPhone6 S."

- And another change, apple introduced the new rose gold make, so there you go : "Congratulation! You have been randomly selected as our lucky visitor for today! Answer a simple question to get a FREE chance win the all NEW ROSE GOLD iPhone6S. Be the first of your friends to have it!"

These days, the new Samsung Galaxy 7 is coming, use that one to improve your angle etc etc ...

These are all very simple examples, I used them just for the sake of easy understanding, please dont expect them to actually work in real life (tho they could) But, sometimes all it takes is changing one sentence and the angle will work again. Its also good to know the GEO you are targeting, as different goods will be popular in different GEOs. Spying can help you with this too.

To really make it simple, all you need to do is use some spytool, rip some landers, run them to get benchmark data as Vortex(Amy) suggested and then start your brain and figure out how to make the angles more up to date and more attractive.

It's awesome! Great thread.. Thanks everyone for enlighten me, I have learn a lot about angles.. more and more interesting! Already signed up for Adplexity and got to familiar with the spy tool. Definitely will rib some banner/lander, twist it and test it out once ready for my 1st mobile campaign..

Trying to understand more on offer research and understand this thread "iAmAttila's Ultimate Spying Guide for Mobile". Feel free to recommend any blog/thread for a newbie like me. I'm happy to read, understand and apply.
