I run two eCommerce stores (sex toys), spending about $1,000 to $1,500 per day on Bing and Adwords - but it's essentially capped at that, as well as our traffic.
We're looking for ways to get more traffic to the site and my friend recommended Traffic Factory or PPV - since we operate in the adult space and can't use Facebook or any other type of display network.
Anyone have any experience pushing physical products with PPV?
Not physical products, no - I've used it to push infoproducts a bit, but it's not the best route for that in my experience (although I'm sure there are folk out there making it work).
Why not go with one of the big adult display networks? ExoClick, TrafficJunkie, etc. Obviously you'd have to be quite choosy about the placement and it depends on the products you're selling, but that would allow you access to inventory on most of the big adult sites.
Alternatively, depending on what you're selling, you could advertise on some of the big adult social networks, or the social networks that allow adult content. I believe Reddit would allow you to advertise on NSFW subreddits - they're expensive but if your products target a particular niche they might do well. And if you sell bondage/BDSM gear (or anything fetish-related) then Fetlife allows advertising and has pretty considerable reach.
