Client side tracking - Facebook / Voluum / E-commerce

Hey guys,

We are doing something new with a cosmetics brand and my biggest weakness is the technical side with tracking.

Very used to server to server tracking and know how to do this all fine but I am stuck on two things with this client side tracking.

We are using Facebook as the traffic source and Voluum for tracking.

--------------------------------

Question 1: I will be sending traffic to a particular product page, however the website has multiple products. With Facebook you have to use static tokens. So I am setting a static value for the payout to be passed, however, if the user decides to purchase a different product to the one I have sent them to at a different value, how will I be able to detect and pass this value?

I have been told by the support at Voluum that they have seen something where '' the purchase value was transferred to the thank you page by appending it to the URL, and then by a script that would extract value of that parameter and load the tracking pixel with that value set as the payout.''

Any idea how I would go about this? If someone could explain this in Layman terms then that would be great!

-------------------------------

Question 2: The brand we will be working with also have an Amazon page and are in a supermarket in the UK called Boots.

I will also be promoting their products on their online pages. However I will not be able to put javascript of a pixel on their pages, meaning the tracking conversions may be impossible.

So the only metric I can use to improve campaigns is clicks.

Can anyone think of a way to get around this at all?

I know with Amazon I can create coupon codes and do discounts and that will certainly be a way of tracking conversions across Europe, however I cannot do this for Germany or the UK where the brand has a contract in place that says they cannot offer discounts

------------------------------

Thanks in advance.

P.s. For anyone that can help me resolve either of these issues can have a free product from the brand at a value of under £25/$36, with a choice of hair products and beard products for both male and female.

I see you posted this again, wish I could be of more help, however I've not used Voluum and don't know much about your setup. I'll try and make it a little clearer for you.

Q1:
Setting the URL param in the URL
yoursite.com/thankyou.php?payout=500

Then you would use JS to read the URL, extract the payout param and echo an image pixel with new new value appended.

Q2:

Why won't they allow you control of their online pages? How do you know when a sale you sent is made? do they offer postbacks or reporting?

Yeah reason I posted again is because the last post didn't show up in the recent posts list, so attempted to get it there this time around but with no luck ha!

We have tried extensively to get them to add code to the thank you page but cannot get anywhere. This is just for the Amazon page and Boots page. I have full access to the actual E-commerce site.

Thanks for the reply.

The new post lists shows threads with unread posts, so if you posted the thread it wouldn't show up there for you.

How is the client currently tracking amazon and boots orders? Do they have access to live sales data from both sources?

When promoting to amazon pages you could use your affiliate id to track sales with subids, and do the same for boots with subids via affiliatewindow.

Amazon aff program:
https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/

Boots aff program:
