Hi Guys,
Just a real quick question.
I know this may be wildly different for each person - but on average, how much would you say you spend on testing a campaign before you start optimising?
Thanks.
The more information I have the faster I start optimizing...I try and carry over as much possible data from other campaigns. What I really want to see as fast as possible is if the offer converts well and more importantly that it converts at all. Then judging that I can start over and do mass testing...I'll give some examples.
You target android traffic in Italy...You have 3 old campaigns where you see devices with a low CTR and no conversions...I same the same thing happening I'm going to drop them early and save the money. It can always be put back...What's more likely...4th times a charm and this device is gonnna start converting or that your ad looks like shit on this phone and nobody can read it?
Same thing for traffic...At the beginning I wanted to test everything completely and make sure I wasn't missing anything. I stopped testing dayparting and take the same hours into every campaign now...I had every single country show me the same hours for their time zone...There was variation but no matter how good the offers were...They all dropped off in all the same hours and picked up in the same hours.
I may miss something here and there but I'll save a lot more in the long run and give offers the best chance possible to be profitable.
You never stop spending/optimizing.
I would say laziness/complacency would kick in after while if it's a long term campaign but you should always be fighting the urge to do nothing with it once you've tested/invested xxx, xxx. Keep reinvesting 10% of profits into finding new sources/angles.
Never let a winning campaign stagnate, 99% of the time it can be scaled in some way, unless you're hitting the cap. In which case, time to pickup that phone and call the advertiser!
It's really depends on the vertical.
For example in mobile Google Play installs I spend 5 lead cost for 1 publisher if I use just 1 landing for 1 offer, if more then more spend...
