White Label Dating Sites (10)

White Label Dating Sites

I have been running various CPL dating offers and after ASW was wondering about white label dating sites.

Are people still doing white label dating sites these days?

In particular did anyone start recently and was able to make it successful?

In terms of platforms WhiteLabelDating.com vs DatingFactory.com which one is better?

I think its the way to go but they will not do PPL with you.
What provider your will pick depends also on the market.
WLD does only English speaking markets. DF was the first pushing it big in the EU market. They were recently sold.
Still a big player. Drop me a PM I can hook you up with a good alternative for some EU markets.

Stay away from WhiteLabelDating. In terms of revenue, I estimate I generated more than 2 million pounds for them across 5 geo's. When I couldn't maintain the traffic they just decided to drop my rev share to almost a quarter of what it was. I still had to make back some of my investment (calculated using the expected lifetime values of signed up members), so I actually made a loss with the last campaigns I ran. If they did this to me, just imagine how they see new people using their platform.

Was there a reason why they dropped your rev share % other than lower traffic you were sending them? Wasn't rev share % part of the contract with them? How long ago did it happen? I know they were either acquired or merged with another company recently.

I spoke with Glenn Millar at ASW. He is offering me 100% rev share for first 2 months and then 60%.

They can change the rev share at any time, as they wish. It's in the contract, trust me I tried to fight them. It all happened in Nov 2014.

This is the email I got from them, out of the blue:

I am contacting you as I need to make you aware of some changes happening across the business.

We mentioned in the partner conference earlier this year that we had some difficulties in our take over of the U.S, since then we have needed to invest into a new US office and customer care team, 4 new payment providers, acquisition cost to take over TangoWire ( a US dating business with over 100,000 members), all of this whilst also retaining our current marketing team, design studio, dev team and BI team.

As a result we have had no other option but to revise revenue shares for Bronze and Silver partners that have seen a decline in revenue over the past year, fortunately I have had a discussion with John Ray (the Chief Revenue Officer) and we have agreed you will receive a share of 10% across all revenue streams with a review to take place in 3 months time, I hope during this review your account would have grown a bit more and will give me the chance to get you a higher share. As of the 1st of December your revenue share is being amended to 10% flat rate.
When I complained (across e-mail, phone, Skype, etc), this is the response I got:

In all our partner contracts partners will find clause 20.1, which states -

20. Variations
20.1. Global Personals reserves the right to change any of the terms and conditions in this
Agreement, at any time and in its sole discretion, upon 7 days prior written notice to
the Partner.

Your rev share also amended to a top-end variable at one stage when you were driving a large volume of traffic and you will have the opportunity to have that same rev share again providing Global Personals can see a substantial growth, I will sit down with John Ray and discuss a reasonable target for you to hit so we can see a guaranteed rev share change in 3 months time.
And this after I generated the following over a period of 5 years (this is at about 35%-40% rev share, so divide those number by 40% to get the total revenue). This is only from my main account, and doesn't account for the other affiliates I sent their way who in total generated even more than this. All those guys got burned as well, as soon as they couldn't maintain traffic.

Please feel free to bring this up when you talk to them, if you want any more info please PM me.

EDIT: What happened recently is they did the same thing Google did with Alphabet. They started a new company (I think called Venntro Media) and made WhiteLabelDating/GlobalPersonals subsidiaries of this umbrella company.

Well for 30 bucks you can buy a script that sets up the whole thing for you. Zero reason to white label.

**I do not do this** - but my understanding is quite a few people simply bulk import fake user profiles.

Again, I do not.

It's a simple CSV import, the script above has a plugin to do that too for an additional 9 bucks. There's a lot of options for obtaining "users" out there; one I know that is (or used to be) popular is this.

100% unethical, but it is what it is.

That's actually not such a terrible idea, to "seed" a dating site at the beginning. If I were to do this I would slowly remove the fake profiles as I get real people online. I have tried starting my own dating site years ago and it's VERY difficult and expensive getting people to sign up and actually use the site when there's no-one else there.

Everything I said could be reworded as:

"This is how it's done" (Unfortunately)

...and yes you'd definitely want to have money ready and start feeding signups to both sides of the fence (male/female...or whatnot) as soon as possible because those messages aren't going to answer themselves.

If you take a 60/40 split you're a sucker (or lazy)...at least if you take it for an extended amount of time. Build your own castle

PS: This is why its damn near impossible to start a cam site from scratch haha; white label or nothin
