Adjust: have you had issues with them recently ?

Hello guys,

I'm wondering whether it's a large issue or if I just got really unlucky but in 15 days I've had multiple issues with App Installs tracked by Adjust on the network/advertiser side:

1) First network: I was split testing offers, saw 1 network perform 30-40% less than the other one without any obvious reason... they investigated and found out that the Adv did receive my conversions, but Adjust somehow didn't send them back to them. Finally got my conversions credited back a few days later. Needless to say I could have lost $300 daily if I didn't split test offers and didn't found out this issue...

2) Another network, this time, all of a sudden zero conversion got reported for a few hours, seems like they fixed it (whereas I see conversion rate fluctuate intra-day without much reason either), not sure if I'll get my conversions payed this time.

Everytime it seems to be an Adjust issue... did you have such issues recently ?

Cheers,

Hi, as a network, glispa also works with Adjust. Our experiences may not directly address the problems you are facing now, but we felt that this information could also be helpful for affiliates working with Adjust.

In September 2015, we were informed of some technological upgrades on Adjust's platform, which may affect the performance of affiliates' traffic sources. More specifically, Adjust improved their fingerprinting algorithm, adding a number of logical checks to determine if a fingerprint will be created or not. Among those checks is the matching of Device Manufacturer and Device Model. If these do not align, no fingerprint will be created.

To help our affiliates adapt to these changes, we recommend them to deliver DeviceIDs on click or to pass as much User Agent information as possible on click, especially device maker and model, if they are unable to pass DeviceID information.

Thanks a lot, one of the network involved recently asked me to send them a deviceID, I didn't really know what they were talking about... I know some DSP like Avazu seems to have this available as URL token.

I'll see if I can find some info on this and share it with others.

BTW, call me suspicious, but aren't they going to remarket like crazy if I provide this ID ??

Hey guys,

Some terrible news for people pushing Adjust tracked Apps... needless to say it's gonna be harder than ever to scale Apps and bank.

Basically Adjust has switched on a new fraud prevention feature which is clunky like hell... it's supposed to filters VPN, hosted services and whatnot but trust me on this one, it's a completely unpolished product.

Since a few days, one of the App I'm promoting is using this new feature. This had 2 consequences :

1) Drop of the CVR by 30% overnight, in multiple GEOs and with multiple trackers as well as multiple traffic levels... Affiliate network didn't know where the issue came from and only found out today what is the cause... (well that's the short story, I had to fight with multiple networks to get the real answer...)

ok so I know I'll have to live with it and resumed my campaign again... and discovered consequence 2) :

2) The more you scale, the more you CVR drops... it's probably because the new algorithm of Adjust thinks "wow, there is no way this guy can send me X peoples converting from the same ip, i'd rather not count this conversion"... problem is, in tier2 GEOs I have this phenomenon happening A LOT

So right now, until something gets fixed/changes/whatever comes first, Adjust has more or less included an "auto-scrubbing" feature... the more leads you generate, the more shared ips appear in Adjust log and the less conversions it records, so your CVR drops.

What a wonderful world...

Apparently the solution should be that all aff networks ask for the deviceID and send it to Adjust. However, that's not gonna be soooo easy as there is a gazillion way to send this ID (and as much way to send the bad id...):

from their docs : https://docs.adjust.com/en/network-i...rsion-tracking

Please note that device ID types must match the parameter name at all times or be blank. If you submit an ID of an incorrect format, we may have to discard conversions in order to reach a certain level of statistical accuracy. Our systems must presume that the IDs are correct and we have no way of checking that hashes are derived from the correct type of ID. If your device IDs are inconsistent or of the wrong type, then conversion numbers will be irreparably underreported.
PS: in case you're wondering, in Adjust language "conversion numbers will be irreparably underreported" means "the pub will get screwed"...

Cheers,

Thanks for this info.

How and where do you see if an app is using Adjust?
Does Adjust leave some fingerprint in the redirect chain somewhere?

you'll have Adjust.com somewhere in the redirect chain (after the network redirect). I usually see it when I'm using a slow VPN service (most are slow enough to see it)

Actually the RedirectPath Chrome extension does the job very well:
