Beginner Ask: adult desktop or mobile? (8)
Hey there,
I run adult desktop offers for the past few days and I seem to notice that it's very tough to advertise on tube sites these days. People are using the same banners, same landers over and over again. The offers are more or less the same which makes me thinking.. aren't people get used to it these days to not even click banners? Aren't people get bored (def not converting) after seeing the look-alike offers over and over again? There is no USP in adult anymore?
Chat banner gets me very high CTR (1.2%ish) and average banner that I create gets around 0.25% CTR. I tried and tested my own creation of banners and landing pages but it doesn't get anywhere close than using ripped lander and modify it a bit. I grew tired because I can't see any traffic coming fast enough. On TJ Geo DE, I can't get enough volume no matter how high I bid. The bid panel shows I'm getting 60% of the traffic on big site like RedTube but in reality it hardly hit 100,000 impressions/ day. I've put placements in NTV A which supposedly bring great number of impressions. I need to gather data fast. I don't mind burning some $$$ to get meaningful data.
With all this, I always heard that mobile is doing great and has good traffic as well especially when there are more mobile users than desktop through the year and the offers in mobile seems to be quite unique with pin submits, app installs, sweepstakes offers and mobile adult. Would it be a good idea to move to mobile before I invest more time in desktop? or should I just stick to desktop adult and try to make it work no matter what?
Adult isnt an easy vertical to get into.
That being said, its still one where even relatively new publishers are making money.
Are people tired of these ads/offers? Maybe, but they stil convert. Although its not as easy as it once was because not everyone now believe that "a super hot 22 year old lives 3 miles from you and dying to hook up with you".
Regarding mobile - you heard it right. Mobile is getting bigger and adult in mobile is big. Pin submits, mobile apps and adult CPL offers for mobile are working great.
Think about it - if you want to look up girls or watch sexy videos (not to mention porn) then doing it on your mobile can be very private and without everyone around you looking at your screen knowing what you do. You can do it at work, train, home...
Adult for mobile works and you should definitely look to get into it.
That's right! It is something that I haven't thought of. Adult mobile with all its privacy benefit is definitely the way to go.
There are lots of aff network that specialized in mobile out there. Do you know which one of those that has great mobile adult offers? I just got accepted to Addiliate, do you have any clue?
Let me adress the questions you made one by one 
1. Arent people bored? Yes, they are, thats why you see a decline in CVR. But there are still new people coming online, becoming interrested in an affair etc ... so even tho the market is saturated, it still works. And keep one thing in mind, the traffic is sold in bidding, so its value is determined by what it can actually earn for someone. Find your advantage and there is your profit. People get banner blind, but from time to time, everyone clicks a banner so the traffic will never stop
2. Chat banners are clicked more yes, but they also convert worse. The fact that you cannot make a better banner than the ones you ripped, proves that you are simply not good enough at it, YET. But it can be done trust me, we do it all the time. Everyone ripps banners and LPs from time to time, the key is to make modifications that make them perform better.
3. No volume on TJ - there is certainly a ton of DE surfers available at TJ. Something with your settings is limiting the volume you are getting. First of all, redtube is one of their "smaller" sites, go to youporn or pornhub for the real volume. Also check your cap settings, daily budget and make sure you have your account loaded with at least the daily volume limit. If you target keywords, volume will be very low too.
4. Mobile - the privacy argument made by Oran is definitely valid, smartphone is the ultimate device for consuming porn in the privacy of anyones toilet for sure LOL I posted a 2015 traffic summary from pornhub here on the forum and mobile users are indeed the majority now. So yes, the volume is shifting to mobile so there is money to be made there. This doesnt mean desktop is dead, everyone is moving to mobile so new opportunities arrise in desktop too. I would say test both, you should always diversify your income sources anyways
Pretty much any network has mobile offers for adult, at least mobile versions of their dating offers, talk with your AMs, Im sure they will have something you can test.

Thank you so much for your answer. It really helps me to dissect all the missing parts. I guess the low volume I got is due to the fact that redtube is a "smaller" site over there. I've lift off all the caps and use budget asap but still not getting enough 
I read alot in this forum and the most important things in any successful campaign is offer + angle + traffic. Now the question that always hover in my mind is would it be better to test numbers of offers( say 4 offers ) by direct linking it.. Gathering data to narrow down to which offer(s) has/have the most potential? Because when I try to use general LPs, not LP dedicated to a certain angle.. it always yields bad CTR to the offer page.
So taking down notes from adult veterans, they always point out that your landing page should be coherent with what your banner says which lead me to go for direct linking by testing numbers of banner angles directly to offer page, once I found a good offer then I do LP. Is that a pretty decent approach?

It WILL take a lot of cash to find the good placements, but if you have the cash, you will find more and more placements to whitelist. DO set a low daily budget in the beginning and raise it only when you know what to expect. I ran DE for the first time there over a year ago and was down 7-8k before I even knew what was happening lol.

Mobile I can't say but personally I never JO using my mobile, I don't think anybody does actually. JO with one hand while holding mobile in other hand is to shaky you know :-) I don't say there is no traffic in mobile but I think for making sales many would still go using their laptop/Desktop while their wife sleep or are not at home.

As for your own enjoyment with your mobile, I didnt mention that activity. But adult hookups, sexy videos and such are definitely working great for mobile. I mean, surely adult videos and pictures are what whatsapp is for :-)
Its no different than Tinder. And I dont know your situation but married people, people with kids, they dont really have much privacy (in general of course) but when they take their mobile to the toilet now one is interrupting them...
I didnt say its bigger than dekstop btw, just that its big and getting bigger (Im talking about the vertical...).
And as an affiliate manager I am telling you that adult mobile offer works and works well.
