Newbie vs 7Search, posting all campaigns here!

Hi! Right now it feels like i could create campaign after campaign and profit isn't even possible, let alone a few conversions. What i figure is i'll be okay if i keep going at it long enough without being totally blind about it.

This thread is partially for my own accountability, and to make it easier to see what i might be doing right/wrong, if you see some good or bad noteworthy trend in my approach i'll be extremely grateful for some feedback!

My goal with 7S is to spend at least $500, learn tracking, optimizing and some basic campaign creation. Hopefully there will be some conversions too! Maybe even break even or reach a profit : D

This main post will be an index of all my 7S "learning-campaigns" and insights/lessons gained from running them. My goal with 7S is to spend at least $500, and hopefully at least get some conversions or some data to optimize, maybe even break even or reach a profit : D

From many EXTREMELY helpful posts on here i've been able to do more research before starting campaigns.

My main two "sticking points":
*Knowing exactly who i'm "writing to", especially with sweepstakes and "general" offers.
*Keyword research, it seems the good keywords are high competition, i keep wanting to find high volume low competition keywords that probably don't exist...

Trying to go for low payouts so i can get some data to work with. Up next after sweepstakes is indian dating!
Will create more campaigns over christmas.

Active campaigns:

Sweepstakes - iPhone/Samsung Galaxy poll giveaway:

Angle: iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy poll

LP(try 1): http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614
LP(try 2): http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614
LP(try 3): http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614

iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy Poll: Choose Your Side!
You Want An iPhone Or Samsung Galaxy? There's Just One Catch: You can only pick one... Click Here!
http://www.iPhone-vs-Galaxy.com

Offers: iPhone 6 & Samsung Galaxy SIV email submit
Spend: $6.37
Revenue: $0
Progress so far: Got 90 clicks from an affid-rid with ref-domain "Localhost" overnight. These 90 clicks cost me $4 out of the $6.37 already spent. Visibility on keyword right now is "Poor", bids range from 0.03-0.05. Now my intuition tells me let it run one more day with low bids, ban bad subids and up the bids to open up for better quality traffic. Tried to implement as many of Maynzie's tips for sweepstakes as possible.

In order to profit/break even i'll need 3.33% or higher conversion rate, now it's 0 and i'm blocking bad subIDs.

Inactive campaigns:

Asian Dating 1:
Angle: Lonely desperate asian women

Haven't you given loneliness a fair try?
Stop waiting. Meet a wonderful asian beauty for christmas! Click here!
http://www.lonely-asian-women.com

LP: http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614
Best LP CTRs: Keyword: china dating 37 ad clicks 14 clickthroughs 1 conversion 37.84% CTR
Keyword: chinese girl 10 ad clicks 3 clickthroughs 0 conversions 30% CTR
other keywords of note: "asian girl", "asian dating", "asian single", "asian woman" all 50+ clicks and around 9% LP CTR, 0 conversions
Offers: iDateAsia, chnLove
Spend: $25
Revenue: $7
Summary: Lots of shitty subids, 1 promising affid-rid with a high LP CTR and 1 conversion, went 4 days without traffic from that one, decided to cancel it. Could be bad keywords although they were targeted. Could be bad LP, could be too quick to ban subids. It does seem 7S is more hot for chinese than for just "asian".

Christmas freebie/giveaways:
Angle: Save money for christmas

Is Your Wallet "In Danger" For Christmas?
Spoil Yourself Or Your Family AND Save Your Wallet! (3) Out Of 5 Giveaways Remaining! Hurry Up And Click Here To Claim Yours ASAP!

LP: http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614
Offers: Kohl's $500 gift card, Toys R'Us Gift Card, KitchenAid Gift Card
Spend: $8.38
LP CTR: 4%, if the shitty subids/keywords don't count: 7-8%
Revenue: $0
Summary: Many shitty SEO-spam referrers to be blocked, detected from just checking the referring domain. Remaining sites had a somewhat similar demographic. They clicked my ads but very few clicked through the LP. Probably the offer didn't match the demographic.

3 year old campaigns: Did a few direct linking "throwing shit on a wall" campaigns 3 years ago. CB offers, iPhone/iPad giveaways, no LPs but p202 tracking yes. Also ripped an asian dating LP i saw running on uTorrent forever with no success.

Sweepstakes - iPhone/Samsung Galaxy poll giveaway:

Paused sweepstakes campaign, $12 spend 0 conversions, a lot of the traffic is from shitty subids so the "actual" spend is lower. Expecting maybe 1 or 2 successful campaigns out of 10 i start, so far i've started 3. ROI on my first $50 spent on 7S is -85%. Don't know if it's "dead" just because i'm not hitting it right from angles, or if it's because of seasonal stuff. i'm not sure if i should keep at it with CPA stuff or look into obscure clickbank niches direct linking, or maybe both. Main goal is still to focus and do something and not hop from campaign to campaign before getting in deep enough to at least learn something.

Sweepstakes - iPhone/Samsung Galaxy poll giveaway - Split testing "Win ___ as a REWARD" vs "Win ___" without being told a reason

Reactivated. Updated LP: http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614
Old LP was "Hey answer this survey, hey win an iPhone!", didn't seem credible. Now I thank them for participating, and because they voted they get the iPhone as a reward! Will see tomorrow how it turns out... Even if it fails, I get to see the results of split testing two landing pages with somewhat similar traffic.

Old LP: http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614 (some pics not showing up here but they did on non-preview one)
New LP: http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614

If the "theory" is right the new one should do better.
Another concern is that the next page "loads" so quick when a user "votes" the survey is done with such lightning speed unlike anything I've ever seen before when using a poll, though the user might not think so deeply into it, def something to split test if this campaign shows promise.

Update: Sweepstakes - iPhone/Samsung Galaxy poll giveaway - Split testing "Win ___ as a REWARD" vs "Win ___" without being told a reason

New LP has 85 visits, 26 clicks, 30.59% CTR.
Old LP has 372 visits, 44 clicks, about 120 of those visits were absolute shit, so 252 visits 44 clicks, 17% CTR

To get an even more accurate split test i should've run run 50% of all traffic on each site with a $10 budget. Sorting by subids there's so many subids it's hard to get statistical significance for any one single subid referrer, but overall the CTR looks good. No conversions though, meaning offers aren't appealing enough, changing both.

Looking at it closer, sorting by keywords there's this:
"cell phone" (shitty subid wasn't present on this KW)
Old LP: 182 visits, 26 clickthroughs, 14.29% CTR, using caurmens statistical significance... 95% certainty it'll end up 9%-20%
New LP: 76 visits, 18 clickthroughs, 23.68% CTR, 14%-34%
"cellular phone" about the same

"mobile phone" on the other hand...
Old LP: 56 visits, 13 clicks, 23% CTR, 12%-36%
New LP: 23 visits, 12 clicks, 52.17% CTR, 30%-73%

Still NO conversions though.

Update 26th dec: 1 conversion on 1 keyword, positive ROI on that one keyword, in total -32% ROI on all traffic after changing offers. Traffic and spend is quite low, though i can up the bid to get more traffic from the "promising" keyword

Update 27th dec: no more conversions. 87 clicks, 22% CTR. Pausing it till i manage implementing jQuery, then running it $5 more to see if jquery is enough to make a difference.

Running sweepstakes campaign $5 more.

Didn't get jQuery implemented yet, but did write some scarcity/social proofing countdowns/count-ups scripts.
Preview: http://www.abpreview.com/preview/sho...20d8042e2bf614

Going to see how it does with this, then tomorrow I'll see how it goes with jQuery then if it still shows no promise, next!

What I've learned so far
:
Basic tracking
LP creation/design + writing and using simple js scripts
Some photoshop
Implementing techniques from books and from forum posts
Doing the obvious common sense stuff i know i should do but i don't until i get burned for not doing it. Trying harder.

What was your rationale for picking 7Search as a traffic source? It is not really known for high quality traffic ...

12-29-2015 11:23 AM #7 ysekse (Member)

Update: No clicks tracked, messed up adding offer links to LP. All LP clickthroughs went to a dead url

cmdeal i figured it was a cheap way to create and track some campaigns, though mobile/bing/media buys seem more tempting the more i read on here Still got at least $80 to spend on my 7S account though. The thing that i really do like about 7S is no need for ad/campaign approval and the low CPC. I have a SiteScout account and all those rules and guidelines + ad approval teams were super intimidating so i ran off to 7Search, at least to begin with : p

And there is a reason for that, they are glad someone buys the crap they sell, so they will take whatever campaign they can get. That has to tell you something about the traffic they are selling ...

Compare it with the approach you have experienced at sitescout, where they actually do care about what they show to the surfers ... these are clear signals you simply cannot ignore.

Thank you both so much for the feedback, it hit me like a piano falling from the sky. I'm def gonna switch traffic source to something more legit once my 7S spend is done, unless i somehow get a profitable campaign up.

7S is probably the shittiest thing I ever tried. Deposited a larger amount and then tried to get a refund from them for almost two months. Eventually they sent me the money back when I convinced them of having just fake traffic.

Seriously man, common, you didnt even start properly and you're already looking for reasons to not break out of your comfort zone? 7search is crap, lesson learned, now move on ...

Many things in life which are cheap and easy ... are usually cheap and easy for a reason.
