No Star Wars spoilers here.....or any where else

Hi Guys

have you encounter with a drop in your traffic last week.
besides the holidays that are coming where a lot of the people in the industry leave their computers to be with their family another BIG thing (some will say out of this world) have happen.
------------- STAR WARS - The Force Awakens -------------
Imperva Ltd (http://www.imperva.com/) checked what happen to the traffic online the day the movie was released in 3 different countries.
in the UK the company reported a drop of 5.5% in the volume of web traffic on Thursday prior the premiere.
In Russia the was a drop of 4.7% and in France the premiere was on Wednesday and looks like there are some heavy Star Wars Fans there as the web traffic had a drop of nearly 11%.
UK traffic stats remain low for the next 12 hours after the premiere ended.

Imperva senior strategist "Igal Zaifman" related this low volume of Browsing the web to 2 main reasons -
"it might be that the drop happen due to a lot of people went to the movie theaters to watch the early shows.
But i believe that it just might due to Fans just didn't want to log in to the internet and get Spoiler attack"

During the hours of the shows Imperva have measured even a bigger drop in some of the places
UK -8.7%, Russia 7% and 8% in France.
Imperva concluded these data by comparison of browsing data in the time during and after the film was screened in every country, the period of time corresponding previous days of December.

so it shows that we have to take in mind a lot of different parameters when building a campaign, Timing is a big issue and also be aware of whats going on in the Geo's you are targeting.
always invest a bit more time in learning the people and the culture behind the users, it can and will save you a lot of time and money.

and for those of you who loved Start Wars and haven't seen the movie yet , here is a Chrome add on that will help you get free of Spoilers.

8.7% traffic dropped in UK due to people not wanting to see Star Wars spoilers?

Lol that has got to be a joke! I will bite my tongue if that is true, it's just very unbelievable.

i also looked at these stats and couldn't believe it first BUT the stats don't lie

the 8.7% drop in web usage in the UK was referred to the hours when the film was screened.

Impreva is a legit company with proven records in the data and security industry so there is no reason not to believe their stats.
if its only due to spoilers...? well when you look at all the hype around this movie i can think that if there is a movie that can do that its star world.

and when the the App store is crushing due to lots of downloads of the latest app from Kim Kardashian, i believe anything can happen (or i lost all hope in humanity, haven't decided yet)

P.S
even if the stats are real, don't bite your tongue just yet, I'm planning on coming to Berlin and hear you speak at the conference

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Drives Installs of Star Wars Apps

AppsFlyer, a Facebook Marketing Partner and Twitter Official Partner, has released new data measuring the impact of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in theaters on downloads of Star Wars-themed apps on iOS and Android.

AppsFlyer analyzed over one million app installs in the U.S. across 15 Star Wars-branded mobile apps on iOS and Android, and found organic install activity began climbing on the film’s release day, December 18. Since then, there has been a 3.5x increase in app installs for these Star Wars-themed apps, as users independently downloaded this content.

The boost was higher on iOS, which saw app installs increase 5x, as compared to a 2x increase on Android.

AppsFlyer found marketing also had an impact on Star Wars related app installs. Since December 15, there has been an 8x increase in ‘non-organic conversion rates’ across iOS and Android. Here, conversion rate is defined as ‘click-to-install,’ with the figure being compared to the first two weeks in December.

Again, the boost was higher on iOS, which saw conversion rates increase 11x ahead of the film’s release, while Android conversion rates increased by six times.
