Ranking An Affiliate Review Site ($10,000 So Far) So Successful I Got Negative SEO'd

Hey guys,

So before I get into the bulk of this case study, I thought I'd just drop a little intro. I haven't been posting on STM for quite a while, however I'm now back to working fulltime and STM has helped me a lot.. I recently started the 6 week affiliate marketing challenge and it re-inspired me to contribute more to the community here.

This inspiration lead me to showcase a review site I made a few months back, and one that will interest quite a few of you.

As some of you may know, I'm an affiliate for STM.. So I refer users to this Forum, granted I haven't pushed my review of STM as much as I have pushed other things, but I've still referred a good number of users, some that'll probably be lurking this forum section and come across this post, say hi!

Introducing: BHC.Ninja

I started this website in May, 2015. It covers 3 reviews:

I'm an affiliate for all 3, and so far the site has done over $10,000 in sales, here's some print screens -

Note that on the last image, aMember messes up with the unique clicks bit.

Building The Site

First things first, I need to explain a concept to you: Trust Signals.

Trust signals are attributes to a website that give confidence to Google that your site is real and worthy of ranking in the SERPs.

Some trust signals I implemented on this website:

These kinds of signals, and many more, allow your website to take more of a beating when it comes to backlinks. You can put more spammy looking links, more non-niche relevant links etc.. at your site compared to, say a brand new site with a default Wordpress install on it.

Note: I installed the CMS (which is Wordpress in this case) at this URL: https://www.bhc.ninja/blackhat-community/ - I 301'd the homepage and the root directory, and only use inner post pages (such as - https://www.bhc.ninja/blackhat-commu...-money-review/ ) as indexable content. This has slight benefits, as you don't have duplicate content around your site (as Wordpress out the box has multiple duplicate content issues) and allows you to only have a few pages indexed in Google that all have large amounts of content and good signals - In the eyes of Google, the only pages they see are big pages with various social shares, comments etc..

I used this theme for the site: https://wordpress.org/themes/sparkling/

Link Building (and Outranking Charles Ngo)

As long as you've done large amounts of content (the average article size on this site is about 2,000 words) and have trust signals in place, you won't need to do much offpage work.. Unless you're going after very big monthly search keywords, if so, then I'd suggest investing in a more thought out link building campaign.

PBN Links:
I also put 3 private blog network links at each review, though I've blocked bots on those PBNs so they won't show up in link checking tools like Majestic. I recently did a big guide on building a blog network here.

NoFollow Blog Comments:
I ordered Adss30's niche blog commenting service, 50 comments for $12 ain't bad.. And you get results like this - http://blog.theinternetmarketingcomp...39999735894266

I also had a 301 redirect setup at my Marketing Inc 2.0 review: http://www.marketinginc2review.com - I ran the same $12 blog commenting package at this 301, and when the review was first published I put 5 PR6 SAPE Links at it, though I only ran these for 3 months.

I also managed to get above Charles Ngo with this strategy for the keyword "Stack That Money", just falling short of the social profiles for the forum -

Negative SEO Attack

I also noticed that someone had started building spammy links at my review pages -

Notably it was more my BlackHat.Communiy review, though that's understandable as it's a publicly available affiliate program which means it's more inclined to attract competitiveness than STMs which is invite-only.

I hired a VA ($3/hour ain't bad) to manually remove many of these links, and they've since dropped off.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed this post, I aim to add more internet marketing related reviews to this micro-review site, and as I do, I'll update this case study.

Thanks for this - this is the type of info I have been looking for since joining STM. It is unfortunate this forum only really focuses on paid advertising.

I'm starting my affiliate journey next year and Would love to know more speciafically about site structure - basically how to setup for it gets teh best from search. I've posted this: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ight=sogregory
but no replys, maybe you can help.

happy to jump on skype

Thanks
G

YouTube can be used for Parasite SEO, if you're wanting to use those funnels.

I made this video about a week ago, it's just a little case study I'm doing of using OnPage etc.. to rank a video:
http://serpbook.com/serp/?viewkey=yh...2525e84472d1ff

No backlinks to this, but if you want to go after bigger keywords then I recommend it.

Parasite SEO is really powerful, I did an eBook on it as well -

Nope, it isn't in this forum ^^ Indeed, it's a paid eBook I made.
