Heyho STM peeps!
I'm still a relatively new and overall silent member of the community. I did have my own follow along a few months ago which you can check here: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...e-app-installs
Since then I've been busy.. Busy learning and working my ass off to turn this into a business.I want to share part of the story with everyone else, including some tips.
I got into the AM industry back in May when our company suffered some major changes and we were looking to pivot. One of my good friends from the poker days is Rio(supeyrio), who after quiting poker became a very successful affiliate. After a chat with him, I thought AM makes the most sense to get into. And if I was going to do this, I was going to do it right: Grind 24/7 for success, no distractions, no looking back, just pure focus.
Since then, the number of profitable campaigns grew. There were always ups and downs in between but my motivation was always high. We started building a team, we reinvested our profit into making even more profit.
Back in October I attended Charles Ngo's workshop, AFFcelerator, in London. The biggest takeaway from that is that meta-strategy can and WILL have a big impact in the ROI of your campaigns. The way to grow your affiliate marketing venture as a real and sustainable business is to look from at least one level higher than just campaigns.
Since London, we've been getting very close to that good looking milestone of $1k/day profit mark, and will of course be attending AWA BKK. In fact, I'm flying out tomorrow and I get to Bangkok on Thursday. If anyone wants to hangout, shoot me a message
After all this, I'm more motivated and hungry for success than ever. And that is tip no.1 I have for anyone trying affiliate marketing, or any entrepreneurial venture for that matter.
1) How badly do you REALLY want it?! Do you take Friday nights off to party? Others are working. Do you take 2 weeks vacation because you are burnt out? Others are working. You are doing it to get a better life? Good! Then work your ass off to lay a solid foundation. If you are not willing to put in the time, go get a job at fucking McDonald's.

2) Ideas are a dime a dozen. It's all about your execution. Even if one of the top affiliates in the world tells you all their secrets, it's still all about how YOU APPLY THAT INFORMATION TO YOUR BUSINESS.
3) Empathise. Don't be an ass. Especially in the affiliate space, there are scammers and assholes with a very high frequency. Account managers at affiliate networks and traffic sources have to deal with so much of that shit. Really, don't be an ass. Help them help you and they will appreciate working with you.
4) Leverage your strengths. Affiliate marketing takes a pretty wide spectrum of skills. You don't need all of them to make money. Make sure you are using your strengths to the fullest.
5) Compound interest. Don't "cash out" on small wins. Don't underestimate a 2% ROI increase in perpetuity. Those seemingly small things can make a big difference in the long run.
6) The right people around you can make it or break it. I've learned that from before trying out AM and this was one of the things I wanted to make sure I get right from the beginning. And since I am ending with this point, I want to give a few shoutouts:
Rio - thanks for the intro to the industry, and advice over these months; looking forward to stealing your secrets in BKK

Jeremy and Xavier from Acepowermarketing - we shared the poker background so it was very helpful to me to be able to talk to someone with a similar background.
Sylar and goldenjo - from our newbie mastermind we started back in May. Glad we got the mastermind right on the first try and we are all making solid progress. Hope we meet at some event in 2016.
Charles and the AFFcelerator team - It makes the world of difference when you think at a higher level than just campaigns, and you see how others are running their business. Thanks for setting up this course and for bringing some great affiliates in one room to learn from you and from each other.
Now it's time for me to get ready for Bangkok and taking it to the next level!
Manu.
