For someone who know nuts about coding and programming and not know where to begin with designing landing page, would it be wise or advisable to download landing pages templates such as www.wix.com as a kickstart?
Personally I spent a couple of days going through coding tutorials on HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript and JQuery:
https://www.codecademy.com/learn/web
http://www.w3schools.com/html/
...after that I mostly rip landers I see through spying and modify them to my liking.
Using landing page templates is a good idea as well, but be sure you check page load times to make sure it loads fast.
Another way would be to outsource your lander template coding.
Alternatively, you can partner up with someone who's good at coding landers - I have the luck of working with someone like that in my mastermind group.

I'm ok at coding but I still rip most of my landers and customize them
