EXCITING NEWS: First Official Female Meetup at AWA :)

Ladies of STM,

I am proud to announce the first official Female Meetup at AWA - sponsored by Affiliate World Conferences no less. I would like to invite all the hustling, independent and goaldigger ladies who are attending Affiliate World Asia next month in Bangkok, Thailand.

I am excited to be part of this progressive idea to gather with like-minded women who represent the dream life of so many.

The best part is yet to come: If you are a lady and come to our meetup - you qualify to be one of the lucky ladies who will have a chance of winning their AWA ticket's price back plus an upgrade to a Gold Pass. Winners will be drawn at the meetup from those there - so no luck for you cheeky guys who might try to submit your details (I know how sneaky affiliates can be when it comes to free stuff!)

It's a bit sad that the first response just had to be a guy complaining about gender discrimination... the hypocrisy... (though it is hard to gauge level of jest).

This industry is quite predominated by men (and not due to men being inherently better at marketing than women) and I for one welcome any and all initiatives that encourage more women to get involved, and hopefully over time snub out a lot of the unprofessional focuses a lot of people/businesses in this industry have (in the context of sexism).

I think that's just a natural part that will come with the industry shifting focus toward more legitimate practices and a general improvement in the "business decorum".

To be clear, STM is all for gender equality in this industry and will stand behind initiatives to promote this balance, period.

There's many women in the AM role, but not that many (too few) in the Affiliate role

I think it is a fantastic idea! In Tech in general, female meetups are starting to become a regular occurance and it is such a positive thing for everybody in the industry. In the Performance Marketing world, it is definitely going to be of use, as it is quite a male dominated space.

No matter what the guys think, female affiliates will be able to offer some different perspectives in terms of targeting and traffic sources, and should be able to teach us men a thing or two, that maybe we hadn't considered previously.

I can tell you, that the female Affiliate Managers that I work with every day offer some unique perspectives on affiliate dealings. I think this can only be a positive thing and wish you guys the best of luck with it.

This is a fantastic idea. Go-rilla is owned by 2 woman. in our industry it is not very common. so - count us in

Congratulations to fbqueen for organising this, and I hope this will be the first of many more such events at future STM and Affiliate World conferences to come.

The meetup was a success! Over 20 women attended. Several of us did a group interview on camera (a big thank-you to the brave volunteers!) We wrote our names on slips of paper and randomly picked a winner who's getting her AWA ticket reimbursed as we speak. Everyone left their skype with me and I've added them to our women's skype group chat. Among us are affiliates, traffic and affiliate network reps, direct advertisers, product owners, service providers...people that can potentially work together for their mutual benefit (and some of us have already started to!)

And it was just fun chilling over some drinks! Nobody needs to justify having fun!
