Registering your own Mobile Subscription/PIN Submit Number? (7)

Registering your own Mobile Subscription/PIN Submit Number?

So I always wondered, why not just create my own PIN Submit number and promote it, instead of getting a one time commission I can charge weekly.

And most of the time I have really nice ideas and couldn't find any offers regarding it, or the offers are terrible and under priced.

So is it plausible? Without actually using middleman services since most of them take up to 50% in commission.

It sure is possible, but you'll have to deal with a lot of issues!

CMA did a nice case study on setting up his own PIN submit offer a while ago

Hi markohf, you need to use a "middleman service" that manage the billing (payment) system with the mobile carriers. There are a lot of service like this one (e.g. Fortumo).
You should consider that the commission you are speaking about, aren't entirely for the middleman service...in each country there is a different deal with the mobile carrier, and these commissions are mostly for them. And of course you can't avoid them

They're just as strict. The carriers take 50%+ of the amount you charge the user. The cheapest way is to ise a shared short code but then the billing options and amounts are restricted. Did cared numbers take a while to get approved and are expensive.

In saying that, If you have the budget to set it up and run it, it can be well worth you while.

Its possible for sure, but it ain't easy - there are a couple of aggregators that have connections (with carriers) all over the world so you could go live in multiple GEO's with one aggregator connection.
I've met the guys from dimoco at an event and they seem to be on their game for premium sms services. Some aggregators are better represented in certain GEO's then others, try and find the best solution to your needs.

some points to think about before you make your move:
- dedicated vs shared shortcode ( dedicated is pricey, depending on the country - is the shared code clean or is XX% of you market already in the DB)
- payment cycle aggregator (it can take up to 3-6-9-12 months for you get paid by the aggregator depending on your GEO - a challenge in terms of cashflow)
- subscription vs one-offs vs IVR vs ISP billing ( what is available in your target market and suits your content best? )
- carrier coverage ( are all carriers included for you market? MY Maxis is a pain in the butt to get approved, and different carrier allow different billing flows - PL, t-mobile has a one-click while others are 2-click)
- billing frequency ( some GEO's can be billed weekly, some monthly - amounts can be different per carrier as well)
- reminder frequency ( are subscription reminder messages required? do they need to have the pricing info in them?)
- unsubscribe rate (unsub % in first 7/14-days is high - very high - in most cases because of reminder messages, you will not make your CPA (or at least the on your network pays you) back on them)
- ARPU/ARP(active)User calculations (is the user billable? when do you earn your CPA back? how will the database evolve over a period of time?)
- customer care / refunds ( are you going to pick up the phone and explain someone they where not actually selected to "win an instant prize" ? - joking they have teams for this but it costs $)

lost of these mobile content companies are in the game for a long time, they have relations established, know the markets, (potential) returns and tricks in place to increase offer performance.
investing in your subscriber database can be very profitable in long term perspective, however - if you run aggressive creatives you shortcode can be pulled and you lose all your subscribers (and might need to refund them all - bye investment).

lots of oppertunity, especially if you can combine it with leadgeneration and build seamless flows to increase your overall RPU!

best of luck!

Guys can you send me some middleman services except Fortumo (they don't have carrier billing, only one time payment) and some case studies, I can't find any.

Regards
