Advice on changing vertical

Hi all,

posting this in the newbie section as it seemed the best to get a good answer but feel free to move if it fits better elsewhere.

Apologies for the length of description but wanted to give the full picture.

Have been doing AM for a while now and doing mobile seriously for most of this year. With my ultimate goal (like everyone) of being able to leave the day job to do AM full time.

I have focused hard on app installs on display traffic and after the usual learning curve have managed to become profitable over this time.
Up until late October I was hovering between doing pretty consistent $x and $xx days. However for the last couple of months I have not been able to generate the same ROI's. This seems to be due to a number of things:
-Lack of good app install offers overall
-Lack of good offers on decent/reliable networks
-Even good offers rarely last more than a week these days (and those that do are very heavily saturated)
-Increased strictness on creatives etc from app stores, clients, networks

Having spoken to a few people in my network it is becoming clear that app installs are on there way out and I need to decide what vertical to move into......which is where I am currently stuck.

In order to best utilize the skills (banner making, LP templates etc) that I have built up over the last 10 months or so I'd prefer to stick with something that runs (in some form) on mobile display,

I would also like something that is truly scalable, I need to be achieving $xxx days to really realize the dream of doing this full time.

I was thinking of pin submits, but I am concerned that like app installs these are already over saturated and my AM's have not been able to recommend loads of offers for them

Then there is the question of going adult. At least this is an evergreen vertical with plenty of scale! (though I might struggle to work on creatives at work like I have been doing with app installs!)

Basically looking for some advice on what people who have left app installs and found success elsewhere would recommend?

Budget wise I have a war chest of circa $2000 and a rolling $1000 from my job I can invest.

Thanks in advance for your advice

I'd recommend PIN submits or sweeps if you're looking to move verticals at this point. A lot of people are doing mobile content offers, but unlike app installs they've not had any major changes to their landscape in the last year or so and remain fairly profitable.

Adult remains very competitive, and the can't-work-on-creatives-under-all-circumstances issue is actually pretty major. Plus, you'd have to learn new traffic sources from scratch, develop entirely new landers, etc - it's a bigger move.

Caurmen, thanks for the advice!
Good to get a sense check on these things. That is exactly why I value this forum.
A good point raised about having to learn new traffic sources, I hadn't thought about that aspect. Obviously being able to work creatives whenever is a massive bonus!

now to go start a new follow along....

Looking forward to seeing it! Good luck!
