Weird Facebook Results

Right got a weird one which i've never seen (to this extent).

Set up a campaign for US only sending traffic to a fanpage, then to my cpa offer etc.

Sent 300 clicks today and seeing a pretty good ctr on the fanpage, sent over 200 clicks to the offer according to my tracking.

Inside the network I see 50 clicks on the offer and when I'm checking my stats I'm getting a shit load of traffic from everywhere, Israel, UK, Argentina - you name it, I'v got clicks from there.

So thats like 75% of my traffic down the drain, I know some clicks creep in from other countries incase people login from other countries and shit but never seen it to this extent.

Any suggestions?

---EDIT---

Just ran a report and its saying that 100% of impressions and clicks are from the US. I'm guessing people's friends might see they 'like' my page and click on it? But surely not that much traffic?

Check your fan page settings - you can restrict views to just a certain country. That way they wont be able to view your page, and they shouldn't be served your ad normally or in a social context. The only way they will see it is on their friends wall where they liked your page and you won't get charged for them clicking that as it is not an ad. I would say of the 300 clicks you sent to your fan page, only a bunch of them (e.g. 50) clicked through to the offer and the rest of your clicks were passive from likes and such.

How many likes has your page had as a result of your ads?

Yesterday I got 220 likes from those clicks, I'm using a direct link url from prosper202 on the fan page and thats showing I had over 200 clicks on that link (real clicks).

I have just edited the fanpage to only show to people in the US so hopefully that might fix it, I understand that if person (A) likes my page person (B) who likes it and lives in XXX might also see that and like it, but I wouldn't get charged for those clicks right?

Yesterday I got charged for 302 clicks, I'm not sure how a large majority of those are outside the US as I've got the proper geo targeting in the ad itself.

If someone likes your ad/page it's possible for one of their friends to be shown the ad, provided they are in your demo, and it will have "so and so liked this ad/page" or similar underneath it. I think that is displayed if they click like on the ad, not sure about when they like the page itself. Probably. Anyway, if a different user then clicks one of those ads that one of their friends has liked, you will get charged. You shouldn't get charged for out-of-geo clicks since Facebook should not deliver ads to those people regardless of whether their friends liked them or not - at least I think you shouldn't, it would be Facebook breaching your defined advertising conditions. Also, people can be from the country you're targeting (profile wise) but be physically outside that country, e.g. on holiday, so their IP puts them out-of-geo for the offer.

You wont however be charged from people following "so and so liked this page" which is displayed on peoples walls and news feeds.

I know about people being out of the country etc still be shown my ads but not 75% of my clicks would have been on holiday or something.

I'll probably send another small batch of volume now I have set that US only can view the fanpage to see if that makes a difference.

The thing that's annoying is that if I had only clicks from the right country then it would be profitable.

Just an update I set the fanpage settings to only show for US people and ran a quick test, the first batch of clicks still had clicks coming from outside the US. Noidea what's happening here...
