Driving Down Cost per call on AdWord & Invoca Reporting

Hey everyone,

Im a month old newbie on the forums, but recently i started a PPC campaign through RingPartner for Healthcare calls. I followed IAmAttila's guide to setting up the campaign / bidding / etc and it was very helpful in getting started.

I've run it for about 2 days now and my best ad has a 4.5% CTR and I've driven about 40+ calls with 1 conversion.

The issue is the payout is $14 and I've got my cost per call at about $1 right now. Doing the obvious math shows I'm in the negative. Does anyone have tips for driving the cost down or the conversion up? I know thats like asking the golden question but it seems limited when you are just using adwords. How can I analyze this data to refine my spend? The only ones I'm aware of are dropping low converting Ads.

Also - When looking through the reports on invoca i see a bunch of calls that are logged as "Reported Conversion" but they are not paid because they did not meet the guidelines for getting paid, mainly because the call didnt reach duration. Do you guys find that happens a lot? When I logged in to check my stats, I saw 1 call convert and then 7 of them with "conversion reported" line items and figured, well this campaign is popping $$! but alas, i only have one call that exceeded the duration and was paid on. I just want to know because I was a little more let down than anything to realize my one conversion cost over 2x lol.

Thanks all!

Have you called the number yourself to listen to their spiel? Are you sure your ad text and their message is aligning in a way to keep people on the line. Or at least ad isn't clashing with their message and causing people to hang up early.

You have a pretty good CTR, but is that because your ad is being too all inclusive? Are you trying to get as many people to call as possible. What I'd recommend is trying to get only qualified people to call. Put qualifiers into your ad text. IE. "New patients only" "Must be employed", whatever the stipulation are make sure they're conveyed.

It often happens to have calls that do not convert because it didn't reach duration by a bunch of seconds.

I think you have a pretty good ctr so maybe, as just noticed by ssmarketers, your ad is being too all inclusive.

Even cost per call seems pretty low so maybe you're targeting cheap but not qualified keywords for your type of offer.

Thanks to both of you! I will look over the data and see if I'm being too broad. I did target a lot of keywords and was going to comb through them. I may have jumped the gun a bit and not had enough data either. I tend to start optimizing quickly but I understand sometimes the answers are in the data. I'll report back after 1) i get some more data and 2) refined the campaign a bit. Thanks!

Invoca is also the most expensive per minute platform out there - maybe you can try another?
